Practice teaching—with a blooper included. 😂

Reformer footwork—toes, arches, and heels—with attention to precision, followed by glute bridges with assists and supine arms.

Then one of my cues landed VERY differently than intended… and I couldn’t stop laughing. 🤣 Stay until the end.

You can expect sessions with me to be focused, educational, efficient, and built around results—with plenty of room for fun.

That’s part of practicing: mess up, learn, reset, and try again. Get a little better each time.

Thank you so much, Dinee, for the guidance—and the laughs! 🙏

Working hard. Laughing harder. 😂💪

Knee stretches, frogs, and leg circles—each movement gives us something to refine: abdominal control, coordination, and keeping the pelvis steady as the legs move.

We’re learning to move with intention, give clearer cues, and notice the little details. We’re also learning that a good laugh belongs in the workout. Especially when you watch the blooper at the end. 🤣

Over the last seven weeks, training partners and colleagues have become close friends who feel like family. The shared effort, encouragement, and moments between exercises have made this experience so special. ❤️

Taking the practice seriously while leaving plenty of room to enjoy ourselves.

Proud chest. Long collarbones. Shoulders away from your ears. ✨

Here I’m demonstrating while teaching Chest Expansion —connecting each movement with breath and intention.

The bar’s resistance gives us something to press against as we practice shoulder control and create length through the upper body.

My cues:
▫️ Roll the shoulders up, back, and down to set up.
▫️ Exhale as you press the bar toward your knees, keeping your arms straight.
▫️ Widen across your collarbones and keep your chest lifted.
▫️ Grow tall through the crown of your head—think turtle emerging from its shell. 🐢
▫️ Turn your head gently while keeping your shoulders down, then return to center.

Small details help us practice better posture: a long neck, an open chest, and controlled movement without shrugging or arching the lower back.

A little behind the “why” foam roller in my classes at @revival.pilates. 🤍
It was video of me preparing my 2 Mat& Tower classes yesterday.
And coincidentally all my clients yesterday were moms with an infant & toddlers around the age of mine.👶👶

I work with a lot of mom clients who deal with lower back pain or feel like they have a weak lower back.
That’s why I chose to use the foam roller for today’s core work. It gives us an extra challenge while helping us find better pelvic stability and a more neutral pelvis, without letting the lower back take over or over-arch.

My mom clients were shaking like little baby calves 😂 We were laughing, working hard, and honestly having so much fun!!

The best part of ending classes is hearing, “Now I feel more full of energy.” 🤍

The magic of Pilates… ✨

🎥 ROLL DOWN + ROWS | Training the body—and training the teacher

I’ve been working on Roll Down + Rows as part of a sequence designed specifically for runners.

🏃 What it works:
Core + deep abdominals
Lats + rhomboids
Rear delts + biceps
Spinal stabilizers

🎯 The goals:
Improve postural strength
Build core control and spinal articulation
Strengthen the upper back to counter repetitive running posture
Coordinate breath, movement, and resistance
Create better trunk stability as the arms move independently

But I’m also practicing something else here: teaching.

One of the biggest hacks I’ve discovered for becoming a better instructor is simple:

Practice. Practice. Practice.

Teach yourself. Teach friends. Teach family. Teach colleagues and coworkers.

And video everything. 🎥

Force yourself to cue out loud (in the car, shower, washing the dishes, at home)—even when nobody is there.

At first, it feels weird and awkward. But when you repeatedly hear yourself explain the setup, movement, breath, transitions, and corrections, you start figuring out what works, what doesn’t, and what needs to be simplified.

Then when you’re standing in front of an actual class, the words come out naturally instead of sounding rehearsed.

Bonus: all those practice videos become great educational content for social media. 📱

Huge shoutout to Leila at Revival for putting up with me 😂 and working through this exercise with me. Having someone there while I practiced the movement and cueing worked wonders. 🙏

Practice the movement. Practice the cue. Review the tape. Refine. Repeat.

🔥 The challenge isn’t just moving your leg—it’s keeping your pelvis steady while you do it.

The Glute Bridge with Leg Sweep brings strength, stability, and control into one movement. 🍑💪

You can see my hips dipping slightly here—a reminder that there’s always room to refine. The goal: keep the pelvis lifted, stable, and level throughout the exercise, even as the leg sweeps.

🎯 Muscles targeted:

▫️ Posterior chain, Glutes and hamstrings: Lift and support the hips.
▫️ Hip stabilizers: Help keep the pelvis level.
▫️ Abdominals and obliques: Control rotation and help prevent excessive back arching.
▫️ Hip flexors and quadriceps: Lift the sweeping leg and keep it extended.

🙌 The arms are active, too! Press your palms and arms into the mat to stabilize your upper body and create a steady foundation.

✨ Think: lifted pelvis, level hips, long leg, controlled sweep.

This movement builds hip stability and awareness of posture and alignment. Keep breathing, and shorten the sweep if your hips begin to dip or tilt.

🙏 Thank you to @juliaclementine_ for leading this tower workout during last weekend’s Pilates teacher training! @revival.pilates Grateful for the guidance and opportunities to keep refining my practice.
