Thank you all for showing up for Dementium.

When I moved to Atlanta 10 years ago, I spent my first five years here focused entirely on acting. Then, five years ago, I was asked to come on and produce and cast this indie feature.

It was the biggest undertaking I’d ever been a part of. I wore at least a dozen different hats and found out very quickly just how difficult producing a feature film is, especially during a pandemic.

But I also don’t know that I’d be casting today if it weren’t for this film, and I definitely wouldn’t have learned as much about producing as quickly as I did.

Five years later, I’m casting and producing full time, and I couldn’t love it more.

To finally premiere Dementium in Atlanta to a SOLD OUT theater was incredibly special.

Thank you to everyone who showed up. Thank you for selling this thing out. Thank you for supporting this film and the people who made it. And thank you to everyone who continues to support independent filmmaking here in Georgia.

I can’t wait to make more things with all of you.

That’s a wrap on Morning Shed. 🎬🩸🎀

After months of writing, fundraising, planning, storyboarding, shot-listing, scheduling, rehearsing, building effects, and countless Zoom calls, we spent two very long (and VERY hot) days bringing this strange little film to life — capturing 65 of our 67 planned shots, all on 16mm film.

But what I’m most proud of is the incredible team who made it possible.

From the beginning, I wanted Morning Shed to be a deeply collaborative set. I believe people do their best work when they understand not only what we’re making, but why we’re making it — and that preparation paid off.

Our producer Lara Repko somehow managed to be everywhere at once, while our AD April Mendoza meticulously mapped out two ambitious shoot days and kept us moving through what sometimes felt impossible.

Our cinematography team, Michael Cochran and Daisy Bolger, beautifully navigated the challenges of shooting on film, while Rocio Romero and Catalina Parra created some truly gorgeous lighting.

Our incredible SFX artist Mallory Shofi brought the body horror of Morning Shed to life with so much creativity, care, and deliciously disturbing detail. 🩸

One of my favorite moments was looking around during one of our more intimate sequences and realizing the room was filled with women and non-binary artists creating something strange, beautiful, unsettling, and deeply human. Those are the kinds of sets I want to keep creating.

And our incredible lead, Bayley Corman, carried the emotional, physical, and technical demands of this film with so much grace and commitment. I cannot wait for you to see her work.

On a personal level, Morning Shed was my first time directing without acting in the film — and my first time directing on film. With no playback, I had to trust our preparation, my collaborators, and my instincts.

It was exhilarating. Terrifying. Exhausting. More than anything, it reminded me how much I love directing.

Dream team. Dream location. Dream project. 🎀

Morning Shed is officially in post-production. More soon. 🩸

We’re all so lucky to be apart of the Atlanta film community. Last night was a blast and I’m glad so many came out to enjoy the works of @thejuiceboxfilms. Honored to have been a small part of making it happen! Also, @malloryannblue was extremely thrilled about me picking her up.

Found a wet hacky sac on the playground. Fact: in High school I was known for two things. Having one pectoral muscle and being the best at hacky sac in all the land. This should explain every question you’ve ever had about me.
