🍂 🍁 FALL upon US! My sweet Ethan turned 9, Eva is now a part of the CPAP machine club, we enjoyed the full super moon, adored our Rex, partied with @marleyblonsky for Halloween, kids made their own costumes, celebrated Eva’s #heartanniversary , Elsie had her first viola concert, we checked pads for contaminants, and WE ADOPTED a rescue pup (and Rex’s new best friend)… our new girl, QUINN! 🐶 A full Fall indeed.

CELEBRATING & remembering the INCREDIBLE LIFE of our KIP. 🐶💙I’ve been putting this post off since his passing in July but, thought so many of you would want to know that he has crossed the rainbow 🌈 bridge. I adopted KIP in 2009 in western NY. He was a young, stray pup found originally in Ohio. He was my first rescue, my first everything - he was with me even before getting married. “Kitty Kip, Kippy Cakes, Trash Panda, Rice Kippy, Princess Kip, Old man Kip”( in his later years). At first KIP was a super fast-flight risk and garbage instigator who would become our particular, loyal, loving, and protective little guy. A model dog, “dog model” and great babysitter. He watched over and cared for each and every one of us. Every new baby, every new rescue. He watched over our LUCY when she got old, watched over our BUSTER when he got sick, welcomed REX @rexoftheozarks when he hopped in until … each of us attentively watched over him when he started to slow down. How truly blessed we were to have such a wonderful dog like KIP for over 16+ years (we aren’t sure how old he was when I adopted him). Vets astonished at his incredible health over the years, even after loosing an eye. He was so LOVED and he is so missed but we know he is with LUCY, BUSTER, and that they are all together again. He was my errand runner, my hike buddy, my protector, my market pal, my nap partner, and he knew EXACTLY where 7Brew was located for pup cups. He would always tell you what he wanted and when he wanted it, a yappy little beagle mix who knew he would always get what he wanted, lol. He was our KIP. 🎵 I used to sing this Carpenter’s song to KIP. This was our song except I changed the lyrics to “Close to KIP” instead of “Close to you”.

We met Rex nearly 2 years ago??! In January of 2024, a tiny, limb different pup found his way to us. He was adopted by a wonderful family here in Northwest Arkansas, and the rest is history. Rex recently visited the new Big Paws location and met some of the pawsome people at @saatchix who helped us with our move! We appreciate y'all!

Rex was a puppy born with extreme limb deformities in a rural area of Northwest Arkansas where resources were scarce. His future looked very bleak. But when we were able to say “yes” to Rex, everything changed. We urgently need your help so we can keep showing up for special dogs like him. This year alone, we are on track to spend over $110,000 on life saving medical care for the most at-risk dogs in our community. We need to continue to raise funds, because dogs like Rex are relying on us. Will you help us continue to give them a second chance? 🐾 Donate to our Giving Tuesday fundraiser today (link in bio).

Personal post (Rachel posted, but I wanted to share) Meet Rex! The newest member of our family! We lost our Buster 4 months ago (what feels like yesterday) to lymphoma, which spread throughout his body and took him quickly (2 months between diagnosis to him passing in our kitchen). I was heartbroken to say the least (still devastated, if I'm being honest). I told Rachel it will be some time before we get another dog. We happened to see Rex on the @bigpawsoftheozarks website a couple of months ago (part of our way of coping was to see who else needs help). We immediately fell in love with him, and knew he'd be adopted quickly! Fast forward to a week and a half ago, and it just so happened that @nwagirlgang was doing an adoption event with @bigpawsoftheozarks . Rachel checked, just to see if Rex was still around, and to our shock, he was! I thought, well, that's crazy, but I still don't think we're ready for another dog yet. Unbeknownst to me, Rachel had submitted an application for adoption, which she told me about when she was at the event. I was a little surprised (maybe, like, 10% surprised), but was actually a little excited. She called me on her way home from the event and acted nonchalant, I didn't want to bring up Rex, as I wasn't sure what was going on. But she came into the house with this little guy! It didn't take long before we all fell in love with him and he quickly became a part of our family! As you can probably tell, he happens to be disabled, with his little "T-Rex" front arms. He is obviously the cutest thing ever, but we are also learning what it means for him. Feeding and going potty have been a challenge, but I think we have a system down; but don't worry about him getting around! We have a puppy wheelchair, but he doesn't love it, and we are working on a new one, but this little guy is FAST on his own! Kip is tolerating him, and I think he's coming around (he's a bit of a grumpy old man these days), but Rex is in love with him! They cuddle at night, it's adorable. Like everything in life, we're excited to see what comes next, and we're so excited to have Rex now be a part of it! Thank you @bigpawsoftheozarks for all that you do!!
