We challenged 14 artists to swap paintings every 3 minutes until they did a full rotation. The only rule was to paint flowers, there were no other rules than that! They had complete control over what style, materials, or colors they used. How do you think they turned out? Would you give this a try with your artist friends?

Glimpse from this year’s coach retreat @milanartinstitute in Sarasota, Florida

14 artists. One canvas. Every 3 minutes, we swapped paintings.

We started intuitively, without knowing where the painting would go, and honestly, it was so much fun.

My biggest takeaway wasn’t about creating the “perfect” painting.

It was about letting go of perfection.

Every artist left their own marks, energy and little piece of themselves on my canvas. And instead of worrying about whether every mark belonged together, I found myself grateful to take home a painting carrying traces of 13 beautiful artists who shared this experience with me.

It became less about my painting and more about our shared moment.

@lisacunninghamartist @karenchangart you gorgeous ladies are super fun to be around. @tannerpolsley you make everything look so easy and fun. What a cute pose btw.
I am grateful for the time we got to spend together.

I came home with a bags full of supplies, but even more importantly, I came back with so much introspection, inspiration and a renewed excitement to create.

My mind is buzzing with ideas, and I honestly can’t wait to get back into the studio. ✨🎨

Sometimes I look around and have one of those quiet moments of — how did I get so lucky to be here? 🤍

What started years ago as me simply wanting to become a better artist has grown into something I could never have imagined. I came to Milan Art Institute to learn, to find my voice, and somewhere along the way, I found a community, mentors,beautiful friendships, and eventually a place on this incredible team.

To now be here as a mentor and an artist advisor , surrounded by people who have been such a meaningful part of my own journey, feels incredibly full circle.

This retreat was filled with laughter, learning, honest conversations, inspiration, and those little moments that remind me how much we grow when we grow together.

So deeply grateful for MAI, for this beautiful team, found most amazing friends @ri.inc @dareejohnson.fineart @lisacunninghamartist and for getting to do work that means so much to me.

Some things begin as a dream… and quietly become part of who you are❤️❤️

Meet Loki, part of my Days are Numbered collection inspired by the fight to protect wild horses. Through this series I hope to raise awareness of the ongoing aerial roundups and culls and the growing movement of people around the world speaking out for these iconic wild horses.

Art can be beautiful, but it can also be a conversation starter. This collection is about more than horses. It’s about using my art to support awareness around the world.

This piece may be headed to the upcoming Square Foot Show - theme is Autumn, where I’m honoured to be one of 39 artists selected from across North America. The show opens September 10. If you’re on the early bird list you will get a 48 hour preview of the show and automatically entered for a chance to win a painting by @ri.inc.

Everyone keeps asking how it went. Let me tell you!

The crowd was smaller than I hoped and sales weren’t what I dreamed, but here’s what actually happened this weekend at Art in the Arena in Frisco.

This was my first time at a festival booth. I set it up and tore it down (mostly) by myself. (There was that one time I had to ask my big strong neighbor to help me attach something I couldnt make fit and praise God for @roshu_rao who held the panels while I unattached them so they didn’t fall on me!)

I learned more in two days than I could have in months from the kindest artists around me. They have so much wisdom and were happy to share all their tips and tricks. I also learned how to sum up my process and story behind my art in a quick elevator pitch. Oh and I passed out more business cards than I can count!

I sold prints, mini originals, and Seasonal Bloom Sets and closed the weekend at a (slight) profit. And yet it’s still a profit, right?!!

I heard feedback about my work that was so encouraging and kind.

I met incredible artists, and got to be right next to my friend @danielejonesart who made the best neighbor a first-timer could ask for. And I finally got to hug a friend, @ri.inc from Milan Art Institute I had only ever known through a screen.

My dad came by and local friends showed up. And Lenore helped me put the finishing touches on the booth like the VIP she is!! THANK YOU LENORE!!!

And then… DRUM ROLL PLEASE…
I won 2nd place in the juried art show!! (more on that later)

Money aside, I really couldn’t have had a better first festival experience! Thank you @visualartsguildoffrisco for all you did to make this festival happen!!
