POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

If you think a race weekend is just about the driving, you're missing the best part.

What I loved about this weekend (besides the racing, awesome company and time in the van) is seeing what skilled mechanics these guys are.

If something goes wrong, there is no giant pit crew there to figure it out. They're under the car themselves, sometimes until the last second before heading out to the track.

And if you want to be reminded of what passion and dedication looks like, go hang out with them.

Ask them about that fire safety pull on the outside of the car. Ask them why the have a removable steering wheel or why there are 7 bonnet clips. Get them talking about the zone they get into when they're behind the wheel.

Because they will. And the buzz and positivity is infectious.

It may look like an individual sport, but behind the scenes, that's not the whole story. Go see how many pairs of hands or strangers tools show up when they're really needed. See how many beers are clinked at the end of the race regardless of the outcome.

I said it last year and I'll say it again, I'm so grateful for these guys inviting us to share their weekend with us and answering all my random questions.

It was an absolute blast. Again. 🥰

(Did I get any footage of these guys actually racing? No. Because we were waving and cheering like crazy people every lap. And last race was cut painfully short).

🏁 Team MOARwin is back!!! 🏁
…And what a return it was for the 399 with the @c1racingclub at Donington Park last weekend! With @joshwallis_fjs returning to the lineup and @riccywalker joining the MOARwin fold for the first time.

Firstly a massive thank you to @jelly_snake_motorsport who allowed us to turn up on Sunday morning to a scrutineered and weighed car, and as always provided a car that was built, prepped and ran faultlessly all day, despite no testing. Secondly a huge thank you to @raw_motorsport2009 for getting us out onto the grid, he’s tried to get me in the car many times over the last year but I’ve never really felt ready, so this was awesome to get back out in, as much as I love being part of the club behind the scenes, nothing beats getting behind the wheel. 🫶🏻

Also a big mention to @roblewis1991 of @drivingtorquepodcast_pbi who took a blank canvas of a car and almost single handildy made it fit on the grid and our ever high standards of car, with creative use of wrap! 👏🏻

After qualifying 43rd out of 49 cars we knew it would be a fun race, confident that we could see the time and that once we had extended runs we would all find it, with all of us rusty to racing and C1’s being our first race of the season. With Josh starting the race, looking like he was going to be late home for his dinner, he very quickly moved the car up to 30th by the fourth lap! Handing over the car to Ric one hour in, we were already running in the low 20’s which Ric maintained for his full hour, before handing to me around nett 22nd overall. My job then being to bring it home, find my own lap times and see where we end up. Eventually, after some overtaking and defending fun, we crossed the line P18, twenty-five places ahead of where we started!

🎶 399 IS BACK!!! 🎶

It’s been quite a hiatus, almost 4-years in fact, since 399 graced the @c1racingclub paddock - The home of the UK’s best endurance racing - but finally… WE ARE BACK!!!

I’m super excited to get back behind the wheel of a racecar and it couldn’t be alongside better guys. We’ve got fast lad @joshwallis_fjs returning to team, ready to pick-up where he left off with @riccywalker returning to Donington for his second stab at C1 racing after an impressive debut in the Gen2 car in 2024!

I can’t wait to get going again, it’ll be a baptism by fire next Sunday with no time to test and none of us having driven the car, but we’ll send it and see.

A huge thank you to @jelly_snake_motorsport for getting the car together and organising us and @raw_motorsport2009 for making it happen, I know you’re both always keen to get me back into a racecar so appreciate both your efforts to get us there 🧡

🎥 We’ll be out Sunday 19th at Donny, and the whole race will be live streamed on YouTube! Wish us luck! 🎥

There is so much to be said for just showing up and saying yes to random experiences and having a van makes it so much easier to do that. Being able to have an epic weekend away with no hotel costs, no need for expensive meals or drinks out and still having our own space to escape to has proven, once again, why our van is such an important part of our life.

Logistically, the van allows for an immense level of freedom and it makes travelling with kids endlessly easier which makes impromptu travel a breeze.

Over the past few days we have...

🚘 Learnt some fascinating stuff about cars, racing safety, truck brake cooling systems etc.

🚘 Met some amazing people who had no reason to, but showed us incredible generosity in time, knowledge and beer anyway. (@ian.bamber.52 @riccywalker and co!)

🚘 And of course, watched a bunch of motor racing which is never a bad thing!

We definitely need more weekends like this one!

It’s the beginning of October’s Ambassador Wednesdays! And who best to kick us off than our wonderful Riccy!

Racing Riccy joins us along with his JCW mini which he drives in circles with in the CNC Heads Sports Saloon Championship. Not just good at making a brew (his own assessment, we have yet to confirm or deny!) what we are sure about is Riccy’s openness and great conversation.

Riccy has a passion for helping others and helping them on the path to feeling good about themselves - and let’s face it, we all need that boost sometimes! If you see Riccy at an event this season, do say hello - and ask him about his little 100cc motorbike that his Dad reckons he got out of a Christmas Cracker! But in all seriousness, if you’re on the fence about a bike purchase…Riccy will persuade you to do the buy!

If you’re a sucker for an onboard, check out Riccy’s instagram page @riccywalker for some on track action in his JCW, including great overtakes, near misses and epic saves..! He’s been a great part of the team this season and we’ve loved his chilled presence in the paddock and on our track walks 🙏🏻

Had a absolutely mint wkd away at probably my favorite track @cadwellpark_msv. Really great atmosphere in the pits with the team/friends as always with #cncheadschampionship. After a few nightmare weeks getting the car ready with nothing going right at all. Finally made it with massive thanks to @_1jamroll for the garage help and Will rdt.tv for sticking with it the day before and getting it mapped at very very last min notice 🙏🏼. Went out for quali which was technically a shake down, but managed to match my PB twice to give me a decent start for both races. Started 8th in race 1 moving up to 6th overall where I managed to shave more time of the PB and finished the race. Car felt great but I didn’t have a great clutch pedal towards the end. Race 2 didn’t go to plan with my clutch cable giving up off the line, luckily tho only a slight love tap from @lbully09 from behind and no damage. Overall a great wkd with some good friends and family. Thank you to everyone who came to support and big shout out to the catering manager @mk3_20vtanditsrunning Some pic credits to Dwphotography and Peter scherer for their great shots as always. #renault #gtt #gtturbo #racing #racecar #race #cadwellpark #cnc #cncheadssportssaloonchampionship #clubracinguk #track #trackcar #topcheftim #familytime

Following the success of the inaugral “trackwalk & talk” to mark Mental Health Awareness Week back in May at Snetterton, we will be hosting a ‘trackwalk and talk’ at Cadwell Park in partnership with the BRSCC & Student Motorsport - this weekend!

The 3.5km walk is set to take place at 6.45pm on Saturday 10th August, with several Student Motorsport members, and BRSCC Staff and Racers in attendance.

All event ticket-holders are welcome to join the walk, and there will be the opportunity to purchase Driven Minds stickers & hats. Proceeds will be funding mental health first aid training for Driven Minds volunteers to increase the support available at tracks, as well as our new Marshals Mental Health First Aid Training target.

The BRSCC will return to Cadwell Park for a full weekend of cult racing at the height of summer. A range of much-loved cars and brands will be racing including the Mazda MX-5 and Fiesta ST150 Championships, as well as the BMW Compact Cup. More tin top racing will come courtesy of the CityCar Cup, MG Metro Cup and the BRSCC Evolution Trophy – which includes the Classic VW Cup, Finsport Renault Cup, Mazda MXX-5 Mk4 Trophy and BMW 1 Series SuperCup. Tickets for the event can be purchased at cadwellpark.co.uk

We hope to see you there! 🤩
