Some collaborations begin with a business plan.

Others begin with a conversation.

Our connection with Richard started with a simple message about surfboards and quickly became something much bigger — conversations about surfing, craftsmanship, people, life and where we believe the surf industry should be heading.

That is exactly the kind of relationship we want to build at Blue Room.

Norway may be far from the traditional images people associate with surfing, but perhaps that is exactly what makes its surf community so inspiring.

Cold water. Changing conditions. Long drives. Waiting for the right wind, tide and swell.

You do not build your life around surfing in places like this because it is easy.

You do it because surfing has become part of who you are.

Through Richard, we have the opportunity to connect Blue Room, Eric Arakawa Surfboards and decades of surfboard knowledge and craftsmanship with a community that represents something we deeply believe in:

The essence of surfing does not belong only to the places with perfect waves.

It lives in the people who are prepared to make the dream of surfing part of the way they choose to live.

Our collaboration with Richard and Norway is therefore about much more than making surfboards available in another country.

It is about listening.

Testing.

Learning from different waves and conditions.

Sharing knowledge.

Understanding what surfers really need from their equipment.

And building long-term relationships between surfers, shapers, retailers and communities.

We are excited about what comes next — and equally excited about everything Norway will teach us along the way.

Thank you, Richard, for the trust, the conversations and for sharing the same belief that this industry should always be about something more than simply selling surfboards.

People. Craftsmanship. Experience. Community. Surfing.

That is what connects us.

The ultimate quiver killer.
The boys from @arakawasurfboards @blueroom_surfhub had this beautiful 6’10 Holly Moli made for me to pick up when I arrived in Portugal. I really can’t talk enough about this board as it really is so good. If you want a board that will catch and perform in 1ft to 12ft + this is the board. They really should rename it from the Holly Moli to the Holly Grail as it is the closest you will get to a fountain of youth and keep you surfing for eternity 😂🤙

When Uncle Erik (@arakawasurfboards ) opens a zoom live shaping session for team rider @haymansurf and the boss @sarahmilkweed representing Vision Boarding from the north shore it goes down in my books as a very special day.
As always a special thanks to Erik’s right hand in Europe @romeu_goingholistic at @blueroom_surfhub for connecting people 🫶🏻.
Tom ended up with his very own version of the Animal that Eric completely tweaked out with focus on a deep single into a double concave, extended nose rocker and extra volume to perfectly suit Toms size, style of surfing and the waves he was looking to use it in. Tom already has a Andy Irons Bandit as his daily driver but wanted something for those bigger winter days when the waves demand more.
If your looking for that dream board or quiver. Why not let one of the worlds most renowned shapers help you get it. Drop us a line and we will help you with everything 🤙

Some boards are built to be ridden.
Others are built to test what is possible.

This Arakawa Silmaril is one of those rare builds.

Created by Eric Arakawa for a special customer in Norway, this board carries a construction that goes beyond the standard: a refined carbon layup, performance-driven reinforcement and a glassing approach designed to give the board more response, more projection and a cleaner flex under pressure.

A prototype feeling.
A custom purpose.
A board built with quiet details that only reveal themselves in the water.

The Silmaril already has that Arakawa DNA — speed, hold and precision — but this construction adds another layer: more control through power, more confidence through turns and a more alive feeling under the feet.

Built at Blue Room.
Designed for cold-water lines.
Made for a surfer who wanted something different.

Arakawa Silmaril
Prototype energy. Custom soul.

Watching and absorbing everything. When you order a @arakawasurfboards you are not just getting a surfboard, you are getting a small part of surf history.
Spending time with Eric Arakawa is a reminder of what surfboard design truly means. Over 40 years of shaping experience, 10+ World Champions on his roster, and the mastermind behind Andy Irons’ iconic boards. This isn’t mass production; it’s five decades of North Shore history molded into foam.
