motivation monday: the long game.

sometimes you don’t know why God has you walking through certain seasons until you’re on the other side of them.

the mistakes. the growing pains. the lessons in patience and humility.

none of it ever wasted.

many livestreams later, we found ourselves doing something we absolutely loved, for a community that so desperately needs the attention it deserves.

grateful for the crew that kept showing up, the friends at @miracleleaguefrisco and @jeremysilvas22 who trusted us, and the reminder that getting better at your craft isn’t always about what you gain.

sometimes it’s about what you get to give.

people over projects. always. 🤘

“act as if what you do makes a difference. it does.”

taped above the pass at resident taqueria is this little reminder. and honestly, i can’t think of a better way to describe what they’ve built.

because what they do goes beyond making incredible food. it’s the care in the smallest details, the pride in the craft, the way they treat people, and the community they’ve built around a shared table. all those seemingly little things add up to something that matters.

resident is hands down my favorite place to eat. and one of my favorite places to shoot.

the people, the energy, the rhythm of the kitchen, and all those little in-between moments that keep me coming back with an appetite and with a camera. there’s something special about watching people who genuinely love what they do.

to @andrewsavoie25, @platedbyparker, and the entire crew, you’ve created something really special. and i’ve loved getting to witness and document little pieces of it through my lens.

the @michelinguide bib gourmand recognition is so well deserved. but what i love most about resident can’t be measured in awards.

it’s the people. it’s always been the people.

grateful for you guys. congratulations, friends. keep making a difference.

three interview setups. three completely different looks. same lights, same cameras, same afternoon.

move the key. change the direction. soften it. harden it. use the room. find the depth. let the ambient do some of the work.

gear gives you options. knowing what to do with it gives you a look.

go out there and be creative. ✌️

thanks crew for crushing this one!

take a camera | fitness and frames.

one of my favorite ways to explore a new city is on a run. give me an hour, a few miles and a camera in my fanny pack.

the run helps me cover ground, get in some fitness. the camera makes me pay attention while i’m out and capture street photography.

you don’t always need a dedicated photo walk.

sometimes you just need to have a camera on you wherever you go.

the shoot doesn’t start on shoot day.

producing is connecting a lot of dots before anyone ever picks up a camera. people. ideas. references. locations. lighting. schedules. expectations. it was a pleasure to work with @raizincain on the launch of his apparel division of @1903creativ.

for me, @milanoteapp has become one of the easiest ways to get all of that out of my head and into one place.

but the board isn’t really the point.

the goal is getting the client and the crew to see the same movie before we ever make it.

good pre-production gives everyone a map.

then you can go explore beyond the map.

4 sonys → 4 reds.

we completely changed our livestream camera package and the goal wasn’t just a better image. we wanted a smaller, lighter and more portable system without giving anything up where it mattered.

four cameras in one case. z-mount. smaller builds. and an image we’re really happy with straight out of the gate.

after putting them through an actual livestream production?

i think they’re staying. at least for now. 😂 🤷🏻

maybe our job is just to be in the room.

to show up. to serve well. to care about the people around us more than the project in front of us.

and maybe, if we’re doing it right, the love of God becomes palpable in the room.

not because we preached it. not because we announced it.

just because of the way we loved people while we were there.

maybe that’s the job.

my go-to camera isn’t the easiest one i own.

maybe that’s why it’s my go-to.

the less attention the camera draws, the more present i can be.

there are faster cameras. easier cameras. cameras with a lot more tech but i keep reaching for my @leica_camera Ms.

simpler. quieter. more intentional.

but i didn’t say cheaper. 😂

friendly reminder to photographers: get in the photos too.

even if it means handing a complete stranger your rangefinder and praying zone focusing at f/8 gets everyone in focus! 🫣🤓📷

the daily. the common. the ordinary.

street photography reminds me that ordinary doesn’t mean unimportant. no matter where in the world, nyc, nola, florence, capri, juneau, paris, thessaloniki, everyone/everywhere has a story.

the challenge is, if you don’t look for it, you won’t see it.

film is slow, expensive, and unpredictable.

all the reasons not to shoot film are the reasons i love shooting it.

monday memo:

keep showing up. keep learning. keep creating.

there’s something exciting about not knowing what’s ahead — and trusting that God is already there.

see you around the corner.
