Tegen de Muur / Against the Wall is going international! 🌍

Next stop: To the Møøn, Møn, Denmark 🇩🇰

It feels quite special to write this.
I’m incredibly grateful that this little piece of my heart gets to travel beyond the Netherlands and be shared with new people, in a new place. 🫶🏻

I’ve put so much of myself into this work, and every time I get to perform it again, I’m reminded why I made it in the first place.

Can’t wait to bring Tegen de Muur to Møn. ❤️

Tonight we’ll perform Hide /n Seek in @vondelpark_openluchttheater 👀

Where can we hide? In objects, in clothing, in our daily movements, in our minds, or in each other? And when we drift away into our fantasy world, or hide ourselves, how do we find our way back? How do we return to reality? Do we dare to come out into the open again? Or do we choose to blend into the crowd?

The evening starts at 20.30, free entry:)

* 13 augustus 2026 — Limburg Festival, Nederland
* 22 augustus 2026 — STRTFSTVL, Arnhem
* 23 augustus 2026 — Willie Willie, Tilburg
* 30 augustus 2026 — De Boterhal, Hoorn (kaartverkoop is life!)
* 6 september 2026 — Mooi Weer Spelen, Delft
* 17 september 2026 — The Happening, Laaktheater, Den Haag
* 22 t/m 28 september 2026 — To the Møøn, Møn, Denemarken
* 17 & 18 oktober 2026 — STRTFSTVL, Alkmaar

🌞 Sunrise Sessions ☀️

✨the magic of waking up ✨

Exactly one month ago today Georgina and I completed our durational site specific performance in Vondelpark. From the Winter Solstice to the Summer Solstice we danced on the 21st of every month at sunrise, greeting the day and passers by with a bit of our art.

When I first asked Gina to embark on this project with me, I felt an immediate sense that there was a need to spread contemporary dance to new audiences—if we are to be taken seriously as an art form, receive fair pay, and create new opportunities for ourselves, it is paramount that we grow the number of patrons of dance. For our contribution to this cause, we thought we would go into a public space at an unconventional time (sunrise), try to offer something beautiful, and spark joy or curiosity for the people witnessing over the 7 month period.

If you joined at any point to support us, it was deeply felt and we are so grateful—we even had some friends and colleagues taking the train from other cites at 5, 6am! One lesson I keep learning again and again is how VALUED your presence is to independent artists. I encourage you to see as many shows and exhibitions as you have time and energy for—it will open your mind and support people who rely on curious and enthusiastic supporters. ❤️

Now until December 21st, the days will get slowly shorter, and darkness will encompass what once felt like a sense of endless summer possibility. In those times, it’s good to remember that the cycle always starts again. 🌱

Excerpt from ‘So Long’ by @kitty_relleke with @modern_bruises

Registration by @somanatomics

One of the worst parts about moving back to the states is the string of goodbyes I have been threading. @modern_bruises was a crucial part of my development as a dancer, the first audition I EVER went to and when they took a chance on me one of the more exciting moments I can remember. The girls have taught me a lot about artistry, about independent production, and about working together as a collective and I am so grateful. ❤️

Still processing…

Iedere plek bracht iets anders. Andere ogen, andere gesprekken, andere reacties.

✨ Ari Peterse – repetitor & techniek
✨ Pia van Meuten – coaching
✨ Maedy de Miranda-Tol – dramaturgie
✨ Rick Woudenberg / earthdreamscape– fotografie
✨ Christina Mastori – film
✨ Nick Bos – lichtontwerp & techniek
✨ Maartje Valk – zakelijk advies & financiering
✨ Sophie Laurens / Buro Beat – marketing
✨ Moreen Beentjes & Sacha Zuiderduin - advies
✨ Wilma Verbeek – verkoop
