@presenttensenashville is back and better than ever 🔥

Located inside a small black house shared with @theflamingonashville in WeHo (yes, you can still enter down the alley for dancing after), this spot was incredible, and honestly, this was one of my favorite meals to date in Nashville.

It’s part Japanese Izakaya/Bistro, part bar, part sake bar, part vinyl listening lounge.

I’ve been before in its old space, but this new 40-seat dining room completely changes the experience. It’s smaller by design, more intimate, and honestly feels like the experience they were always meant to create.

I snagged one of the best seats in the house at the bar watching all the action.

To my right, Mario was crafting some of the most thoughtful cocktails I’ve had in a while (the Botanist 🌱 is a must 👀). To my left, Chef @ryanscostanza was breaking down a whole fish 🐟 , leading matcha service, and effortlessly running a new raw-forward menu.

The pork belly (no knife needed) and the tuna toast on seaweed sourdough with aji amarillo both melt in your mouth. Even if you’re full, ordering the sesame miso soft serve is non-negotiable. Order à la carte or go all in with the omakase. ($88/person)

Present Tense is one of the most exciting dining experiences I’ve had lately and one I already want to experience again soon.

Kudos to Chef Costanza and sake sommelier Rick Margaritov for bringing such a local, intimate vibe to this part of town. 🙏 ✨

Pro tip: They also have a cute patio!

One of the things I loved the most about being drawn into my husband’s world was knowing the caliber of the company he keeps. Rick is one of those people. I’m now lucky enough to call him and his wife Tanya and their kids my close friends, too.

Last week he had to have brain surgery to remove a large tumor. While he is doing well, he has a long journey ahead to a full recovery. But he’s not going to have to do it alone.
