PATIS HAS SO MUCH MORE TO DO

The piña museum is just one of the things @patistesoro still has to accomplish. “Two, three years, andami pa dapat gawin,” she told me, after being named National Artist of the Philippines in Design, the third fashion designer to receive the award, following Ramon Valera and Salvacion Lim Higgins.

At 75, despite health issues, she took me around her atelier in San Pablo City on her feet, showing me a place abuzz with cutters, sewers, patternmakers, embroiderers, and interns.

It's been a year but it feels like Tita @susanjoven is still around.

A mass and dinner was held at @manila_house to celebrate her first death anniversary and her friends gathered to celebrate her life.

There was a butterfly that was there in the tent. I believe this was a sign that she was there.

Everyone misses her but she's watching over us.

PR guru Susan Peña Joven flaunted her then 75 years on earth like she would a diamond.
“I’m grateful, period. Whether it be for the people I love, experiences that made me who I am, or even challenges I faced. I’m grateful to them all,” said Susan, founder, chairman and muse of Visions & Expressions, one of the leading PR agencies in the country, during an article I wrote after her 75th birthday in 2024. Last Saturday, family & friends celebrated her life with a Mass celebrated by Papal Nuncio Archbishop Charles Brown, dinner and music! 🎉#rememberingsusanjoven

Memories at the Pen and a culinary tour of the iconic hotel. 🌟
As @thepeninsulamanila celebrates its 50th anniversary, the hotel treated the @philippinestarlifestylesection to a culinary journey, starting with appetizers at Spices, followed by the main course at Old Manila, and ending with desserts at the grand lobby.

I LOVE @jcbuendia_ ! I think everyone does. What’s not to love? He is kind, gentle, fun to be with, immensely talented, and truly has not a mean bone in his body. JC is, quite simply, a genuinely good human being.

So when I found out that he was this year’s featured designer for the annual @redcharitygala Fashion Gala, led by the dynamic philanthropic duo @kayetinga and @seaprincess888 , I knew I had to be there to support and cheer for my dear friend.

And what a night it was! The evening could not have been more successful, raising an incredible ₱5.5 million for several of their charities. The fashion show was a testament to JC’s extraordinary talent. The collection was quintessentially JC BUENDIA. Clean, timeless, and supremely elegant. The kind of clothes that whisper, “I don’t have to prove anything to anyone.”

Because that is the power of JC. His restraint. His ability to hold back just enough to let the lines breathe and the clothes speak for themselves. That, to me, is the mark of a seasoned designer: knowing exactly when to stop.

But the most moving moment of the evening was when JC came out for his finale, a rosary in hand and a pin bearing his mother’s image close to his heart. We all rose to our feet and gave him the standing ovation he so deserved as his finale song, “The Rainbow Connection,” played. I must admit, I was overwhelmed with emotion.

BRAVO, my friend! Congratulations! You deserve every bit of this beautiful moment. ❤️❤️❤️

P.S. @nixalanon noticed a little butterfly fluttering around the stage before the show began. We both thought how fitting it was. We couldn’t help feeling that perhaps his mother was there, watching over him and assuring him that everything would be wonderful. She must have been smiling down from heaven.

Tissues were the business for the opening night for the musical adaptation of Nicolas Spark's fluid generational novela starting Gena Rowland and James Garner with Ryan Goslin and Rachel McAdams as star crossed lovers.

Gorgeously and enthusiastically performed by three showstopping pairs of "Allie & Noah" accompanied by a tightly deft cast pulling off more than just a sobby "fan service" in spite a few moments (more about material to be honest) the Philippine production nicely ticks all the boxes for another fine night of excellent theatre, filled with Pinoy pride...and yes a few tears.

They have "The Notebook" branded tissue if you need to ask LOL

Thr company has added an extra evening performance on September 16 as all dates are sold out. September 16 tickets available starting Sept. 12, thru TicketWorld
