Some artists carry multitudes within them: friendships, influences, networks of collaboration, entire artistic scenes that make an individual practice possible. And one of the greatest gifts of working with any artist is being introduced to those other universes within theirs.

@loloysosaku are known for this kind of generosity, always drawing a circle of friends into their work. It was through them that I met Tito Díaz, a fundamental yet elusive figure of the Barcelona and Madrid underground scenes of the 1980s, whose work transforms hair, bones and living trees into sculpture and sound.

Tito has lived many lives. Punk hairdresser, factory squatter, experimental musician, companion to vultures, father and, more recently, gardener. Out of the public eye for decades, he now lives something close to the life of a monk, working on his own in the countryside near the Delta de l'Ebre.

Getting to know @mentalsounds has been a real gift. Couldn't be more grateful to Lolo & Sosaku for opening that door (and a big s/o goes to @dani_montlleo for his brilliant documentary on Tito).

Last weekend the three of them played two gigs together, amplified through a colossal sound system built by an underground free-party collective, still towering over the altar of MACBA's Capella. The sound installation is up until Sunday 25, if you're around.

A few pics here. Although, as Lolo wisely said, the only one that really matters is the last one 🖤

(Swipe for angelic pre-gig-ness)

Absolutely buzzed to be back on the road playing in Derby for Invention Festival this weekend!

Basically I just get to drive around with my friends and try to be inventive on stage in the middle, what a dream ❤️

We have so many versions of the songs we recorded that we could release a covers album.

Here’s v1 of Couples Therapy, complete with brooding guitar solo and at least 2mins too long.

One does not simply ‘write’ a ‘song’.
