Announcing our new Guide for Student Rescuers, now available for free on the LEAP website!

Across the country, thousands of compassionate young people in traditional agriculture programs such as FFA and 4-H form deep bonds with the animals they raise. For many, the expectation is to send the animal to auction, breeding programs or slaughter, and students whose values do not align with these outcomes often feel distress, confusion, anger, and grief.

This guidebook was created for the many children and teenagers who contact us each year asking for practical tips on how to save their animals. It is meant to empower students, and the adults supporting them, to make kind, ethical choices that honor both the student’s values and the animal’s life.

Here we have offered practical, respectful, and peaceful strategies for placing animals into farm sanctuaries without financially supporting the breeding cycle that causes harm.

Rooted in LEAP’s mission to nurture empathy, leadership, and ethical action, this guide aims to help compassionate youth feel seen, supported, and capable of making a difference.

Inspired by Audori and Sebastian 👧🏾🩷🐷 and Harper and Onion 👧🏻💜🐑 and for all of the brave young people who choose empathy over profit.

It’s World Wildlife Day and to celebrate, we’re highlighting just a few of the ways our diet choices can impact the planet and the amazing wildlife we are so fortunate to share it with.

Transitioning to a plant-based diet is one of the easiest and most impactful things you can do, not only for wildlife, but for your own health, farmed animals, and the environment… and World Wildlife Day is a great time to make the switch!

Get @reshare_app • @ridge.2.river Fun Fact Friday!

Chickens use the sun as a compass to navigate their day.

However, most chickens used by humans today never get to see natural sunlight, disrupting their natural rhythm.

Just like us, chickens love the sun when allowed the chance to enjoy it.

🥾 We are thrilled to announce a new LEAP program started by Youth Advisory Council member, Siri Kaelin, aimed at getting young people outdoors to connect with both nature and each other… Take a Hike!

On Saturday, April 11th, people of all ages are encouraged to get outside and Take a Hike with us (from wherever they are in the word).

To sign up, go to: www.leapforanimals.org/takeahike

You’ll be prompted to start your own team or join an existing one, and leaders who want to go the extra mile can create their own fundraising page to raise money for any of the vetted nonprofits on our list who are working hard to help animals and the environment.

Invite friends, relatives, teachers, and neighbors to get outdoors with you on the 11th, and make a difference together on our inaugural Take a Hike day!

And while you’re at it, be sure to follow the event at @_letstakeahike and share photos and videos of your team!

Shoutout to @siri.10.18 for dreaming up this exciting program!
