Hi loves! Sorry I’m fashionably late, but so excited to announce that our September 2026 pick is…

Lo Fi by Liz Riggs 💜🚬🎸🎶

Synopsis:

“Swoony, sexy, and melancholy. . . a tattered love letter to youth, music, and Nashville.” —Daisy Alpert Florin, author of My Last Innocent Year

In the sweaty music clubs and late-night house parties of Nashville, an aspiring songwriter tries to make friends, find love, and write songs—without losing herself

Alison Hunter came to Nashville for the music, a town where everyone—herself included—wants to make it in the business. Most nights, you’ll find her at The Venue, the kind of sweaty Nashville spot that’s on the circuit for bands like Bon Iver and Death Cab. Sounds glamorous—but not for Al, who stamps hands at the door with Julien, the quiet coworker who treats her like a little sister. She bums drinks from the tattooed bartender and watches the bands, wondering if she’ll ever finish a song of her own after her disastrous attempt to play in public. After a once-in-a-century storm hits and her lead singer ex-boyfriend shows up at the door, Al finds herself stuck in a perpetual cycle of late nights, new flings, and old flames. Obsessed with the disappearance of a troubled indie star, she slowly starts to lose it herself—until one reckless night threatens to derail everything. As propulsive and sexy as the rasp of a static-driven amp, Lo Fi is an open-hearted tribute to the messy truth of the creative life, the clash of lust and love, and the yearning to be heard.

This one is giving Daisy Jones and the Six vibes mixed with the show Sex/Life, and I’m here for it! I feel like this is going to be a perfect read for the beginning of fall & I absolutely cannot wait to dive into it with all of you!🤪

Thank you again to everyone who participated in August’s bookclub🤍 For those wanting to join the fun, the link for our monthly bookclub (via fable) is always linked in my bio!🤠

Happy September 1st, and cheers to the beginning of the best time of year!🍂☕️🍁

NYC, it’s time for another visit! 🗽🥂

Come join the fabulous @lauren_cecchi and me for an intimate evening of books, cocktails, and conversation at her gorgeous Gramercy apartment on Wednesday, August 12 at 6:30 p.m.

We’ll chat all things THE LAKE CLUB and the creative life. Sign up through @becloser.co (link in bio) or DM me for the details. I’d love to meet you!

Also… As I was putting this together, I realized I never shared some of my favorite NYC moments from earlier this year. So here’s a little throwback carousel—from celebrating my birthday with my mom (packed with theater, museums, bookstores, and walking in the rain!) to hanging with my literary loves @riggser and @averycarpenterforrey to a last-minute, once-in-a-lifetime chance to catch the Saturday Night Live finale with my dear @yesi532 .

New York is one of my favorite places in the world, and I can’t wait to come back. Hope you’ll come hang!! 🫶🏻

Happy book birthday to @erinceciliathomas’s debut short story collection, I WATCHED YOU FROM THE OCEAN FLOOR!

I continue to be so moved by the beautiful writing in this story collection and how Erin crafted strong and spunky female main characters who show us what it means to grieve and keep on living.

Last year, we celebrated the publication of this collection at @thebookshopnashville with @riggser. Thank you to all of the readers, writers, indie bookstores, literary organizations, and reviewers for reading and sharing this collection this past year!

To celebrate this birthday, Modern Artist Press is offering a 20% discount off of the collection (paperback version). Use the code BOOKBIRTHDAY between July 1-31 for the discount. Link in bio.

Bar Campo Round 3 is here—but we are moving!
Next Wednesday, July 1st, Bar Campo will take over @turkeyandthewolficehouse and its sprawling front lawn to feed and hydrate you all once again. We are abandoning our megaphone system and bringing food right to your table so you can all just relax and enjoy the scorching summer heat. Speaking of: We are planning for some HEAT. Lots of summer foods, strawberry gin lemonade, a new insulated cooler for your martinis, etc. This is your moment to wear those wrinkly linen pants you never put on or show off your new tan. I can’t find my linen pants or get a tan so let me know if y’all have wardrobe ideas for me.

Anyway, the usual 7 PM til we sell out. Prepping 40% more this time so hopefully that’ll be a little later. Peaches, tomatoes, lobsters, soft pretzels, and more. Yes chocolate cake. Can’t wait to see you again.

Oh and I hired another bartender. It’s @alexadebriere who rules. She’s knows a ton about wine too. Should be good. See y’all soon.

Last night’s @sad_dads_book_club x @surviving.newyork panel in Brooklyn, @lizsbookbar reinvigorated my sense of what Uncontaminated is…a deep affinity with ideas & culture. The panelists of @riggser @emergencychampagne @sam__sussman @julian.tepper & @mmegannolan moderated by @bstosuy waxed poetics about craft, while post I snapped a few portraits of all the writers , which I’ll share shortly…06/18/26 Brooklyn, New York
