Welke print kies jij, 'Peel the Power' of 'All the arms we need'? Of allebei?

📯 Introducing: ‘De IJzeren Man’ (the Iron Man) explores masculinity in small communities, places where being a man manifests itself and where contact with one’s own masculinity is a requirement. Rik Grevink @rikgrevink wants to spark conversations about masculinity rather than define it. What started as ‘questions on beer mats’ grew into conversations in pubs about meaning, family roles, letting go of expectations, and the question of what it means to be a ‘real man’.

Can we see men as people again ‘De IJzeren Man’ is a quest for the complexity, multifaceted nature, and contradiction of masculinity. Although the work stems from village culture, it is intended for anyone who comes across it.

You might have to squint a few times with the world being on fire and all, but yes, It's spring again! Time to frolic in those jolly gay flowers. That's a reason to celebrate! During this edition we look at identity: Gendered identity, reclaimed identity, longing for belonging. We have a new performance by @joleynveenhuysen, spoken word and visual art by Shizen Tsie-Chun-Sioe and visual art by @rikgrevink. And of course, cocktails!

Rik Grevink is a designer whose work investigates social identity and belonging within local communities. His practice explores how collective rituals, symbols, and everyday culture can be reimagined to question ideas of masculinity, vulnerability, and connection.

De IJzeren Man delves into the meanings of masculinity in small-town contexts — places where manhood is performed, inherited, and quietly questioned. What began as conversations scribbled on beer coasters grew into a visual dialogue through flags inspired by local football supporter banners.
Instead of asserting slogans, these banners turn them inside out, transforming statements into open-ended questions about strength, identity, and care. The Iron Man invites reflection rather than definition, asking: can we learn to see men again — as the people they are?

Over the past five years, 1m² Collective has explored new ways of exhibiting and connecting designers—creating formats that prioritise collaboration, exchange, and collective growth.

Through its “No Space for Ego” approach, the collective presents multiple designers within a single square metre, fostering collaboration and interaction.

This year, during Dutch Design Week 2025, the collective expands across two locations at Sectie-C, where established and emerging designers exhibit side by side—building a living network that shares visibility, knowledge, and opportunity.
