“Is that your dog in the logo?” 🐶 We get asked that all the time, so we thought we’d finally share the story behind how our logo came to life. Last photo is a fun surprise 😉 When we first started Ruma, we had no idea what our logo should be. I ended up making a simple matcha whisking bowl on Canva, and for about two months, that became our placeholder logo. Then one day, our friends gifted us aprons that had an illustration of Riley, our 4 year old golden retriever 🦮, whisking matcha on them. It was the cutest thing ever, but more than that, it instantly felt like us. For the first time, we felt a real connection between the logo and what Ruma stood for. “Ruma” means home in Indonesian. To us, it represents a space where love, kindness, and connection are felt. And that’s exactly who Riley is. She’s loving, gentle, always wanting to be close, and always connecting with people. She became the perfect representation of Ruma and the feeling we hope to create every time we’re out there sharing matcha, connecting with you all, and building community with our peers. #matcha #matchalatte #matchalovers #matchalover #matchaholic

Every year we learn more about ourselves and each other, and continue tapping into our potential together. I’m so proud of Bianca for starting her doctorate program and leveling up in her medical career while balancing her work at UCI and being the co-CEO of @rumalatte. No one does it like her.
