🖤 Ok story time:

⚡️Short version: WE COMPLETED OUR FIRST EVER HYROX AND IT WAS FREAKING HARD AND AWESOME!

💪🏻Long version: There was a period of time postpartum, once the shock of Jack’s birth had started to wear off, where I was feeling kind of overwhelmed and lost. Things that I loved to do weren’t hitting the same. I felt kind of buried by the selflessness that every day of this new role as a mom required of me.

Especially when it came to exercise, I had kind of lost the drive. It was just so hard to find time to exercise, let alone find the time and ability to leave the house and go to the gym like I used to. So I was feeling discouraged.

And then somewhere in between all of that I heard about Hyrox.
A race that combines running and strength stations that looked pretty freaking hard.
When I first saw it I thought, dang that’s cool, I could never.
But then I couldn’t stop thinking about it.

And the more I thought and talked about it, I realized that I kind of wanted to try! I realized it had sparked a desire in me that had gone out.
But there was still a hint of doubt…

Then, the cherry on top was right after I thought “hey I kind of wanna try this, but I don’t know if I can” was when hyrox announced that they were hosting a race for the first time ever in our very own backyard - SLC, UT annnnnnd it was gonna be on my birthday. 🥳🫣

For some reason that was the sign I needed to say yes.

And Preston who is my rock and my biggest supporter saw how much I needed this and agreed to do it with me!
And so we started to research and train!

It involved lots of converting between kg, km, lbs and miles
Early mornings at the gym & runs late at night
Speed intervals and endless reps of burpees, lunges, squats and more
We did a lot of learning to how work as a team and never stopped encouraging each other to keep pushing past our limits
And then the day came, we were nervous but we were also ready because we knew we had done our best leading up to this and so now all we had to do was have fun and cross the finish line!
AND THATS WHAT WE DID! 💪🏻✨🖤🥹

Feeling so grateful to Pres and everyone who supported!

2021 was a year for the books!

I know you are all looking for something to top the 2020 captions but honestly, there’s not much I can come up with that will ever top the inaugural year of the Treehouse.

2021 was a special year for me as it contained the fulfillment of several big goals of mine. I hit financial goals, lifiting goals, educational goals, travel goals, and a few other life goals.

To start, I bought a share of a houseboat. It may not have been the most beautiful or accessorized boat on Lake Powell, but it was mine, and I loved it. I’m not sure if I’ll have another Lake Powell trip that tops that first one on that houseboat, but it has started a tradition that I’ll have the rest of my life. Shoutout to my guys for making that happen.

Next, I spent the majority of the year traveling. I have a lot of hobbies and put a lot of passion behind them all. I chase snow storms on the snowmobile, glass on the boat, and the American dream on KSL. You can see the places I went in the comments, but suffice it to say…..I have no idea how I got my homework done.

Additionally, I experienced the highs and lows of life. From 5 Lake Powell trips, including two with the Queen of Powell herself @breanna.pennock , to losing a majority of my net worth in about an hour while trading crypto on a broken heart. If you want to start investing, have a strategy….and don’t deviate for anything haha. I found new friends across the world and lost a few on the way. PSA: Nothing destroys friendships faster than a game of beans.

Lastly, I sold a piece of my heart on a fateful Fall day. DannytheVanny was sold to a German man named Klaus. I made the decision that it wasn’t practical to keep two vehicles but I regret that deeply now. I spent hundreds of hours in Danny, driving all over the west, windows down, no AC, pedal on the floor, and I miss every minute of it. I wish I had more videos of Danny whipping into the beach of Lone Rock Beach at Lake Powell, wheeling up to go camping, and almost getting stuck at Swingarm City to really show you how special she was.
