Odin was having a rough day & a care package from his Aunties completely changed his mood. ❤️

Ringdown is a project by Caroline Shaw & Danni Lee Parpan, two incredible musicians & now part of Odin’s chosen fam. They sent the sweetest note along with a special vinyl and hat that made Odin’s day.

When Odin has these calm verbal reactions, it is incredibly sacred & beautiful. Just a reminder that simple kindness can change the trajectory of someone’s day. Love Always Wins!❤️🤟

✨ #CelebratingDamian20 // We can’t believe the 2026 Vail Dance Festival is behind us! As we look back on all that’s happened, it’s a chance to take a broad look at 20 years with our Artistic Director Damian Woetzel. Hear from him as he looks back on two decades of leading the Vail Dance Festival — from his earliest memories of the event, to what he looks forward to in the future. We can’t help but be full of appreciation for what his vision has brought to life (and excited for what is yet to come)!

Decoda Chamber Music Festival, June 2026

What an inspiring, crazy two weeks!

Participating in Decoda Chamber Music Festival as a pianist and composer this summer taught me so much, especially the true meaning and purpose of music.

I was assigned to perform in two different ensembles - a trio performing Juhi Bansal’s Love, Loss, and Exile, and a sextet performing Chausson’s Chanson Perpetuelle. Both works were very emotionally poignant, exploring the suffering and deaths of women. Bansal's piece, in particular, was based on the poems that were written anonymously by Afghan women, talking about the love, loss, and exile in their lives. By performing these pieces I could reflect deeply on how music can highlight stories that might otherwise remain unheard.

Throughout the festival, we performed in venues including a correctional facility, an arboretum, a museum, and a retirement home. Each space and audience completely transformed the way I experienced the music especially as it was my first time performing in such nontraditional venues. These performances opened my eyes to the many ways music can connect with the people and the community, and shifted my perspective on what I want my future career as a musician to be.

As a composer, the rehearsal processes with our mentors reminded me of how sacred music making is. I realized deeply how every note I write is carefully interpreted and given life by performers. This experience made me think more seriously about the responsibility I have as a composer, and how our music is brought into the world through countless choices and intentions.

During the festival, I also had the opportunity to write and premiere a new piece in two weeks. It was both terrifying and exhilarating, and one of the most memorable experiences of the festival. I am incredibly grateful for the wonderful Decoda faculty who made this possible and the kind friends who stayed supportive and made the whole experience as a performer/composer so meaningful.

Experiences at Decoda gave me the answer to why I should keep making music, and that it will never be in vain. Thank you 🩵

Caroline Shaw, Sō Percussion, and Ringdown made the Tennessee Theatre feel full of musical possibility.

Original songs, unexpected covers, intricate rhythms, and moments of disarming humor all belonged to the same conversation. It was the kind of performance that kept opening new doors, right through the final notes.
