Still carrying Kasauli with me. (September-October 2025)

The SKAP Summer School felt like one of those rare spaces where everything slows down just enough for you to really look—at the work, at others, and at yourself. Being in a space shaped by the presence of Amrita Sher-Gil and Vivan Sundaram only deepened that feeling.

To be around such generous, rigorous artists—and to spend time learning from Neelam Mansingh Chowdhry, Anuradha Kapur, Gargi Bhardwaj, Amritasruthi Radhakrishanan and Purav Goswami —was an honour. Watching them respond to the work, and then unpack it, was as valuable as anything else.

What stayed with me just as much was being part of ‘Theatre as Atmosphere Machine’—a room carefully brought together across disciplines, where everyone was arriving with a different practice, vocabulary, and way of seeing. A lot of the learning came quietly, through watching how others approached their work, what they chose to hold on to, and what they let go of.

I came back with new questions, and a few answers that feel more solid now.

Mostly, I’m just grateful I got to be a student again.

Twenty pictures can’t quite do justice to the time there—some of what I’m sharing comes from group work, and some from individual explorations.

And I had the best time doing it—felt a bit like packing for Disneyland, and then actually being there. @shergilsundaramartsfoundation
