In early 2013 my band and I met in Rome once more to prepare for a few live performances across Italy, and while we all stayed at Marcello's house in North of Rome to practice ad prepare for the shows, I thought why don't we add a few mics here and there and just record some new music...yes it wasn't a studio setup, but I felt like I wanted that homelike vibe - at least for once - to recreate a "home sounding atmosphere" in some recordings... So we ended up making a whole album 😅 , and that's how it all started and so the entitled "Homemade In Rome" album which was released in 2014 under KMAC-K&G. A few years later, and after several successful trips and many concerts, I felt the connection between us became really meaningful...with something very 'MEDITERRANEAN' in the air, even though 2 members in the band were Mexican but...! Add that when we played in Jordan and the Italians in the band saw how much legacy the Roman's have left us with, we all understood that the interconnection between Mediterranean cultures is already a few thousand years old, and that we share a lot in common! Once the whole region was ruled by the Romans, from extreme east to extreme west of the Mediterranean, the colorful palette of cultures across the Roman Empire became so rich and endless. All that sparked an idea within me: why not turn "Homemade In Rome" into a theme for a whole project and a series of albums, rather than just being the title of one album?!! And there it was... It all led to producing a the next 2 albums, out of which came "Handmade In Hummus Land" released in 2020, and "Live in Dubai" released in 2023, both under KMAC-K&G. Last summer we toured in Italy with this music, and today the vibe continues...this band actually became my essential working vehicle, playing LIVE most of my concerts anywhere. The next step is to complete my new album (I still can't tell you the title!!!)...we started the production in September 2024... Stopped for a while and hoping to get back on it this July with some very special compositions...something I have never done before!!! Want to know more? stay tuned 🎥 #kamalmusallam #homemadeinrome #7H9H❤️ #arabicfusion #romanempire
