This is my top producing nymph right now. I tied it for a Euro box order and decided to try it for myself and it has now turned into my top producer this year. Go tie some up and catch some fish.

A 24 inch Utah Sucker. It was 1.5 inches short of the Idaho state record for length. What a catch after a day filled with white fish and moose. A perk is that I caught it on some @rivercandyflies

I did it. The fishing wasn’t great today but the trip was a success. I caught a fish on the materials my wife picked out in pt 1.

My wife picked out fly tying materials for me. And it was interesting.

I got this idea from a friend @rivercandyflies and figured I could do it too. It was super fun and I would recommend it to anyone with a significant other.

I was out fishing with a buddy on a small technical creek. Everything was bow and arrow cast and this is one of the unfortunate downsides to bow n narrow casts.

Thanks for filming this cast @rivercandyflies it was a great trip.

A small creek, tight quarters, and low water clarity. At first, I wasn't even sure there were even fish in here. After making a few short, loud, sloppy approaches and casts with my 6'7" 3wt, I was still unconvinced. No rises, no looks, nothing. Most of the water was fast and rough, unlikely to hold a fish. So I decided to focus on quality of water covered vs quantity. A little further up, I noticed a pocket of very slow water tight to the bank behind a large rock. After forcing my way through the thistle and thorns, I was able to make one bow and arrow cast with my ant pattern right behind the rock. A gold head and red cheeks seemed to materialize directly under my fly, and sucked it under. A quick hookset straight up, followed by stumbling into the water nearly face first, and a round of "no, don't go in those branches please" and it was done. In 60 seconds I had gone from thinking I was crazy, to landing a trout that had been on my list for almost a decade. Little fish, little rod, big memory, and even bigger smile.
Trying out a new "storytelling" type of post, so if you enjoyed please be sure to let me know!
Huge thank you to @rivercandyflies for the last minute order of creek flies that were instrumental on this trip. #flyfishing #troutfishing #goldentrout

Proud of this guy, who graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedicine this week. Tommy’s path to a degree was marked by perseverance, determination, and a knowledge that his in-laws would be displeased if he didn’t finish (just kidding 😉). He started school not sure of what he wanted to study (other than fly fishing!!!) but quickly applied himself and has put himself on a path to becoming a perfusionist (the operator of the heart/lung machine during surgeries) which will require an additional two years of school. In addition to all of that, he also started his own business, River Candy Flies (www.rivercandyflies.com) tying and selling custom flies to fly fishermen all over the country. We’re confident in his future because of how hard he has worked in the past. We also think he’s a pretty cool guy and a great husband to our daughter. Congrats, Tommy! #graduation #byui #rivercandyflies
