A campfire is a small rebellion against the dark, a circle of warmth where stories rise like embers and refuse to disappear.
Here's to the stories we'll make this year.

Tequila aged single malt, I’m not so sure yet but my wife loves it!

Is tequila cask finishing a gimmick? Or does it actually work here? I’ve got thoughts.

Whisky aged in moscatel? Now this is different.

Spirit for Us are independently bottlers finding fantastic casks from craft distillers and shining a light on them.

This one is certainly worth a deeper look. It is bright, floral….and oddly effervescent (in a good way)!

You can almost hear the bagpipes across the Strait. 🎶

Macaloney’s Islay Peat proves that Vancouver Island can bring the smoke — maritime, mineral, and beautifully balanced. It’s a Canadian single malt that nods to Islay but tells its own story.

Would you guess this was a Canadian whisky?

Blindfolds, crayons, and some of the rarest whisky in North America.

Fettercairn and Hawksworth came together for an unforgettable night unveiling The Vanguard Series — including the 1st Release and a 29-Year-Old expression so limited only two bottles are available in North America.

The evening opened with a cocktail built around the Fettercairn 12-Year: mango syrup, guava, pineapple, lime bitters, and a touch of salt to bring it all into balance. Tropical and elegant.

Then came the main event. A blindfolded tasting of the new Vanguard release. Gregg Glass, Fettercairn’s distiller, experiences synesthesia, he “tastes in colour”, and sketches his notes in crayon. Those notes inspired musicians Kathryn Joseph and Barry Burns to compose a piece of music that played as we tasted. It was less a tasting, more an immersion.

Dinner followed, curated by Chef Hawksworth, each course paired with a Fettercairn whisky:

Starter: Sea bass crudo with charred orange, fresh and delicate, paired with the 22-Year-Old.
Main: Smoked sablefish layered over a crispy short rib croquette, rich and balanced, paired with the 18-Year-Old.
Dessert: A maple whipped ganache over apple compote with ginger and honey cake, topped with muscovado sugar ice cream — paired with the 16-Year-Old.

If you don’t know Fettercairn yet, you’re missing out.

Rare pinotage wine + whisky? Let’s find out!
🥃LINK IN BIO

A Canadian single malt finished in Pinotage wine casks from Stoneboat Vineyards in Oliver, BC 🍇🥃. It’s bold, jammy, and brings that red-fruit depth you don’t often see in whisky.

If you like wine cask finishes (Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban, GlenAllachie Wine Series, or even Redbreast Lustau), you may want to find this one. It’s a small, local distillery and an independent bottler taking big swing.
