“In the world of whitewater kayaking there is a river by which all other rivers are measured: the Stikine.” I saw videos of this river as a teenager at Kendal Mountain Film Festival and was inspired, but never thought I would ever have the skill to complete my own decent.

Living in Squamish now and being surrounded by friends who are phenomenal kayakers, gave me the confidence to give it a shot. It’s been the best river trip of my life and a dream come true. An utterly breathtaking canyon, the biggest whitewater of my life, a dream crew (minus Phil 😢 who was injured) sunshine and mountain goats. Pushing through injuries, scary training in fear canyon, doubts, and a nervous two day car ride up, proved so worth it. F**kin stoked!!

Also a huge thank you to Heidi for leading the charge the whole way, giving beta, pep talks and the confidence to hitch on.

The Upper Cheak solo time trial on Friday evening kicks off @thecallaghanrace weekend. A record 97 racers registered for the race this year but @sophie.gilfillan and @alecvoorheeskayak managed to defend their titles and win a second year in a row despite the stacked competition field.

Beacon is off, batteries out. Such a beautiful week to finish the ski season in home mountains with strong skiers and great family. Grateful for amazing colleagues @bellacoolahelisports . And such a hard week, at the same time, to start the summer season, with some many questions and no answers 😞. All I know is, there is a life out there - go and get it ! 🏔️❤️
