Na música, a máquina do funaná Fogo Fogo, a celebrar dez anos de carreira, dá a conhecer o recém-lançado disco (21:30), ‘Nha Riqueza’; Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe (Lichens), figura de culto da música exploratória, apresenta um concerto para voz e sintetizador modular (16:30); mestre e maestro da festa, o sírio Rizan Said – colaborador de Omar Souleyman – cruzará dabke (música tradicional do Médio Oriente) com eletrónica num apelo irresistível à dança (23:45); afiado e contestatário, o sexteto português Sereias mergulha num jazz punk indisciplinado puxado pela poesia mordaz de António Pedro Ribeiro (22:45); vinda das tripas de Braga e a fazer delas canção, Tricla questiona tradições com um rap anti-rap que se esconde atrás de uma máscara (22:45). A fechar o open day, a partir de sintetizadores modulares, Zancudo Berraco – projeto do artista multidisciplinar Henrique Apolinário –, resgata a música techno para um fluxo implacável que ordena ao movimento corporal (01:00); e Sheri Vari – numa cocuradoria com o coletivo bracarense Boca de Sino –, alter ego de Mariana Cruz que cruza o legado afro-latino americano com correntes eletrónicas (01:00).

Ao longo do dia, é possível visitar as duas exposições em exibição: ‘Ana Vieira: Cadernos de Montagem’ e ‘Still Moving Inside Me’, de Tatiana Macedo, e participar em quatro sessões de visitas orientadas pela artista e mediadora Joana Patrão (a partir das 14:30). Promovido pelo Circuito - Serviço Educativo da Braga Media Arts, haverá ainda um workshop dedicado ao hacking de consolas de videojogos (14:00). Tudo com entrada gratuita.

Este lugar que todos os anos enche e esvazia, vive como um ciclo, onde a aldeia se renova a cada instante e ao mesmo tempo é seguro e confiável de que volta a brotar.

Uns partem, outros chegam. Vão e voltam e ao mesmo tempo já sabemos que todos os anos é certo que podemos contar com o seu amor, carinho e vontade de fazer o Nascentes brotar 🌻

Neste sítio, por onde já tantos estilos, culturas e sonoridades passaram, chega a vez do rei dos teclados - nome de nascença 𝐑𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐚𝐢𝐝, um dos mais influentes e emblemáticos músicos sírios.

A par do extenso trabalho enquanto compositor - começou a produzir música em tenra idade - 𝐑𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐚𝐢𝐝 colaborou com inúmeros músicos, cineastas e programas de televisão.
De entre as colaborações, destaque para o longo trabalho ao lado do mago da pista de dança Omar Souleyman, cujo trabalho na divulgação internacional da música tradicional e de casamento da Síria não tem par.

Sigamos a herança dos ritmos hipnotizantes e encantatórios de um dos berços da civilização contemporânea, abramos caminho aos teclados, deixemos o corpo cair para a dança, sempre.

For our 2nd anniversary, SAHRA Festival is bringing you 10 hours of incredible live acts and DJs. We went above and beyond in curating an experience featuring artists who have taken the SWANA scene by storm across the globe, and of course your returning favorites from our own Sahra residents.

Hiba Salameh is a music producer, filmmaker and DJ from Haifa, and SAHRA’s resident DJ as of 2024. Hiba was named by Mixmag as 'one of the Palestinian DJs you need to know'.

Munsef is no stranger to Arabic electronic music. As a music producer, base player and sound engineer, he has produced and released original work that plays upon the dichotomy of SWANA sounds and modern electronic beats with different musical projects such as @2witnesses.music , @wiha.music and @ahlamalasrmusic

@nadim.maghzal
Nadim Maghzal is a co-founder of @laylitparty and member of Lebanese-Canadian duo Wake Island. As a producer, musician and DJ, he is passionate about rhythm, range and dynamics across a wide variety of genres. Nadim has recently appeared on @boilerroomtv as part of their special New York event with @laylitparty

Rizan Said is a composer, musician and producer. His recent solo performances have brought Syria's original Dabke dance sounds to European festivals and concerts.
One of the artists he played, toured, and recorded with for a long time is Omar Souleyman and he has most recently appeared on @boilerroomtv Syria.

@rust_duo, Live
Rust is a Syrian/Lebanese duo that draws its influence from traditional Arabic musicality, adding original compositions and powerful vocals to create captivating soundscapes of Electro-Tarab.

@sharake_offical, Live
Sharakе is the musical collaboration that builds upon the polarity of the East and Wеst, tradition, and Innovation. Foundеd by two Syrian virtuosos, @yazan_alsabbagh and @salehkatbeh

@asoliman8
Soly is the Egyptian DJ who has been taking Berlin by storm. He brings a wide range of Arabic music genres to the dancefloor, from the beloved Arabic oldies to the best of modern Arabic pop music.

Berlin’s biggest recurring SWANA club night just got bigger! After two years and 10 Sahras, we can’t believe that we are here! We're celebrating in style in our biggest event yet.

This year, we are going all out with Sahra Festival with 10 hours of incredible live acts and DJs, featuring your returning favorites alongside some of the world’s best and most talented SWANA stars.

Two years ago we started this Journey together as Sahra to carve out a space for SWANA culture in the Berlin nightlife scene, and dismantle the dichotomy that surrounds our existence and perception in the diaspora. This is a celebration of who we are and who we can be as a community, a celebration of existence as an act of resistance.

The past two years have been a surreal adventure filled with the unbelievable love and energy that manifest every time we get together. That energy is what keeps us motivated to bring you the best and nothing less!

Join us in this sure-to-be unforgettable experience of the first edition of Sahra Festival!

Começamos a semana ansiosos pelo concerto esgotado dos MÁQUINA, que vão estar a apresentar o seu disco de estreia 'PRATA'.

Também com álbum novo, Marianne traz-nos 'Invertido' num concerto com Aurora e Rezmorah na primeira parte.

A partir da meia-noite, na véspera de feriado recebemos pela primeira vez o recém-criado coletivo Bacchanalia, no feriado entregamos a cabine a BANU e Bieu s2, sexta-feira destacamos Rizan Said, produtor e DJ Sírio e no sábado será Décio, Helvio Fox e Ferrére a controlar a temperatura da pista.

#NoiseNews: Boiler Room & Sadaa Sound Syndicate Present ‘Sawt Syria’ Series

Boiler Room has teamed up with Sadaa Sound Syndicate to present ‘Sawt Syria’, a two-part series spotlighting Syrian underground music.

Conceived and produced by cross-border syndicate Sadaa Sound, ‘Sawt Syria’ - which translates to ‘The Sound of Syria’ in Arabic - will showcase some of the most notable Syrian DJs and producers who took on Boiler Room’s flagships in Berlin and Damascus. From the sweeping synths and bass drops of Hello Psychaleppo to Noise Diva’s pulsating basslines and industrial sounds, the series serves as a celebration of Syria’s diverse electronic sounds.

Titled ‘Motherland’ (Damascus), the first segment of the series features a six-hour broadcast of Syrian DJs, captured from Boiler Room Damascus in the summer of 2022. The broadcast is accompanied by a video essay of the artists, offering an intimate glimpse into the world of the artists and their approach to music-making.

The second segment, ‘Exile (Europe)’, is shot between Amsterdam and Berlin, featuring a seven-hour broadcast with 14 artists, and a video essay in which they reflect on the changes in their artistic practices as they navigate their diasporic realities.

In line with the project, Boiler Room debuted a limited-edition Boiler Room Syria branded t-shirt, to raise funds for Syria and Palestine. All proceeds will be donated to Ettijahat-Independent Culture, for its supportive programmes for Syrian artists, and Medical Aid for Palestinians in Gaza.
