👨‍⚕️🍽️ DOCTOR’S ORDERS: A Prescription for Sunday Dinner!

After years of helping patients grow their families, I’m adjusting to a new chapter in my own family life… being an empty nester!

With both kids now off at college, my wife and I suddenly have a little more time on our hands. And I’ve decided to put some of that time to good use—back in the kitchen!

I’ve always been a foodie and used to love cooking, but somewhere between raising two kids, work, and everyday life, my culinary adventures took a back seat.

Well, the chef is officially back! 👨‍🍳

Welcome to Doctor’s Orders, my new Sunday cooking series, where I’ll be trading my white coat for an apron and sharing what I’m whipping up each weekend.

The inspiration? Often Ina Garten (we’re big fans in our house!). The menu? A new recipe on most Sundays, usually a main course, a side dish, occasionally dessert, and always a signature cocktail for my wife. 🍸 After all, happy wife, happy life!

But there’s also a little more to this series than just good food.

As a fertility doctor, I know how stressful and emotionally demanding the fertility journey can be. One thing I often remind my patients is the importance of making time for themselves and finding activities that bring them joy, connection, and a little relief from the stresses of everyday life.

For me, cooking has become one of those outlets. It’s a chance to slow down, get creative, enjoy some great food, and spend quality time with my wife.

So every Sunday, I’ll be sharing what’s on the menu, the recipes I’m trying, and maybe even a few kitchen disasters. (Let’s hope Ina would approve!)

Consider this your weekly prescription for a little Sunday inspiration.

Doctor’s orders: Make time for the things you love. ❤️

Now, who’s hungry?

It took a village. Three women built one. 🩷

In 2020 I was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer before I’d had the chance to become a mom. Treatment meant IVF, one embryo, and the news I’d need a surrogate — at a cost of $150,000, with none of the financial support oncology patients deserve.

So two other survivors, Victoria Raphael and Ann Palmer, and I googled how to start a nonprofit, filled the chip dip at our own fundraisers, and bootstrapped A Chance For Life from nothing.

My son, Chance, arrived in December 2023 — months after we awarded our first grant.

This summer, our first grant recipients, Rusty and Christina, welcomed their daughter Stella after a two-year wait for the right surrogate. Every dollar donated helped make that happen.

We were three women who turned pain into purpose. And we won’t rest until every woman gets her Chance.

Donate at www.achanceforlife.org or at the link in bio and join our village. 🩷
