POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Five years ago, Emmy would have retreated into her shell at a writer’s conference. Actually, that Emmy probably wouldn’t have even registered in the first place.

I spent the weekend at the @rmfwriters Colorado Gold conference—only my second year attending, and my first year going by myself. This was also the year that I decided to put myself out there. I was still my shy self, still fairly introverted and quiet. But this time, I actively participated in workshops, raised my hand and used my voice, met dozens of aspiring and established authors and swapped cards and stories with them.

I even booked two pitches (both of which resulted in requests!!!) and a mentor session, which offered so much perspective on my possible paths forward as an author.

Perhaps the most valuable thing I learned this weekend that there is no downside to trying something new and claiming space as a writer. So, cheers to finally entering our author eras, friends.

I want to hear from you! Have you been to any writing conferences? Which are your favorites? 🖋️

It’s not a writers con if I’m not wearing my book dress!!! Having a blast at @rmfwriters Gold Conference! Netting up with writer friends, making new ones, sharing knowledge and learning, it’s such a wonderful experience!
