Remembering Michael Silver — Founder of MAGNET Galleries.
Michael Silver established MAGNET Galleries around a commitment to photography and its power to document the world, preserve stories and connect people through images.
His vision helped create a place dedicated to documentary photography and the photographers who bring important stories to public attention.
Following Michael’s passing earlier this year, we honour his contribution and the legacy he leaves behind as MAGNET enters a new chapter, introducing a refreshed visual identity while continuing its commitment to documentary photography.

Congratulations to Bachelor of Photography student, Huiyi Xiao for winning the prestigious Churchie Emerging Art Prize for her work ‘The Fire That Wouldn’t Call Itself Ash’!

This incredibly moving work utilises film, poetic storytelling and movement to explore Huiyi's experience migrating to Australia.
