A few weeks ago I was asked to teach a few classes at the annual @virginia_pta meeting on using social media for advocacy. My first class I’ve ever taught and it had nothing to do with hair.😅
However, being a stylist is what prepared me for this all the same. Those of us stylists who have been around for a while have had to learn how to use social media to promote our business and we are OGs on these platforms. Advocacy has a lot of parallels with marketing but what you’re selling is an idea or a mission.
These platforms can be toxic and cause harm but if we utilize them correctly they have the capacity to start a movement for good. I’ve seen this happen in Roanoke and it’s been amazing to watch.
There’s so much knowledge this career has brought me but this has been the most unexpected and rewarding.

So much over spending but no money for our schools.😔
The child labor violations and failing to do background checks on “mentors” was very concerning.
If any William Fleming students were in this program, we would love to hear about your experience. Message us or @roa_pta_ptsa
