when you’ve bought the van
but you don’t want your truck to feel left out
so you remind it it’s still your #1 overland rig
with a spectacular @leitnerdesigns fb marketplace find

there’s something to be said for not planning
for just taking the monday off
and going and doing
we needed these three days
it had been too long since we didn’t worry
about changing our clothes or where we’d sleep
we needed to eat food from the center console
see the stars at night, let the dogs roll in dirt
visit somewhere new, collect a magnet or six
and just get away from routine
— i have so many photos to share, but for now
you get our faces in all the places:

the goal?
(well maybe my goal, probably not Will’s goal)
get the bus windows off the dining room table
and out of our living room this weekend!!
— we are so close
tape for silicone sealant, check
seal both sides, check
scrape decades of gunk off the glass, check
add UV protection/anti glare film, check
add frosted film to bathroom window, check
finish up rubber seals, almost check
top glass done!
bottom glass to go!
cannot wait to reassemble frames
and see these go back into the bus

can we talk about this weather?
my best friend is dealing with a -20° windchill
not able to take her pitty outside, and
i’m over here sunbathing in a crop top and birks
while hubs waxes his Harley
what is up with winter?

can we talk about the satisfaction (and relief) you feel
when the rubber window channels you’ve spent
hours, no, days hunting down on online
and spending $1 per foot for 160 feet
arrive and FIT!
one step closer to sealing windows!

people have always asked
why I choose to use a paintbrush over a roller
to paint my homes
it’s because I abhor masking
pure, loathing and hatred for it
so naturally I spent all of Sunday
masking windows for paint
old rubber seals out
new rubber seals loading
(hopefully - still need to find these)

ringing in the new year
with new(ly refurbished) windows
sanding and more sanding
prepping for paint
in case it wasn’t clear - this is an awful process

“hey this one is actually kind of rubber” - Will

the last window and it didn’t crumble into dust
we took a giant bus building hiatus
but the roof is raised and we’re back
working on window rebuilds
I (Ariana) love the look of the original bus windows
and we don’t want to spend a gagillion dollars
to replace them…so…
he (Will) chipped away at old rubber seals for two days the plan? tear apart, clean, replace, and reseal
we’ve found some new rubber run channels
for those we’ll keep full length
and will be modifying some frames to half windows
fingers crossed this all works
we may replace the glazing or just seal the frames
i would like to repaint the frames before we reinstall
unless I want to spend $60 per butterfly lock on ebay
we’ll pray we have enough working originals
but first…a lot, lot, lot of cleaning and scrubbing
stay tuned to see if we can get her waterproof!
(because i’m not sure she ever was)
