What an extraordinary few weeks at Bild-Werk Frauenau. A huge thank you to Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung for their generous scholarship, which made this experience possible. It has been a privilege to spend time in such a unique place, where creativity flows across disciplines, ideas are shared so freely, and making is approached with genuine generosity and curiosity. Deeply grateful to my wonderful teacher Ioanna Stelea, whose passion, skill and encouragement gave me the confidence to explore new possibilities in glass engraving. Thank you also to all the incredible artists, tutors and fellow participants from around the world. The conversations, collaborations, shared meals, laughter and mutual support made this an unforgettable experience. I leave Bavaria feeling inspired, creatively re-energised, and full of ideas for where this journey will lead next. Glass engraving has opened an exciting new chapter in my practice, and I can’t wait to see how it begins to weave its way into my stained glass work. Thank you, Bild-Werk. Until next time. ✨ #BildWerkFrauenau #AlexanderTutsekStiftung #GlassEngraving #StainedGlass #ArtistResidency CreativeCommunity WomenInGlass GlassArt ContemporaryCraft Engraving CopperWheelEngraving Vitriography ArtistsOfInstagram CreativeJourney

For me, making art is a way of giving form to what often remains unspoken. It is a process of transforming lived experience into something that can be seen, held, reflected upon, and shared with others. I’m delighted to be exhibiting six artworks from From the Fragment to the Whole as part of Art & Politics – Part III: Internationalism – Art as an Expression at Brixton Library. From the Fragment to the Whole is an ongoing participatory project created in collaboration with women who have experienced domestic abuse. Through glass-making, the project explores how lived experience can be transformed into material form, creating space for reflection, connection, and recognition. Each artwork contributes to a growing collective installation that honours women’s voices as part of our shared cultural memory. The exhibition brings together local, national, and international artists whose work explores the relationship between art, politics, and social change. I feel very pleased to be part of this conversation and can’t wait for the exhibition. 📍 Brixton Library 🗓 6 August – 6 September 2026 🥂 Opening Reception: Thursday 6 August, 6–8 pm I look forward to seeing some of you there. #FromTheFragmentToTheWhole #ArtAndPolitics #SociallyEngagedArt #ContemporaryArt #GlassArt

'From the Fragment To The Whole' by artist Roberta De Caro, created in collaboration with Coventry Cathedral and Coventry Haven Women's Aid, is a powerful exhibition exploring stories of survival, resilience and transformation through glass. Made using vibrant Bullseye Glass, the pieces are created from smashed, reformed and fused glass fragments, with the strong colour and light within the glass helping bring each story to life. With thanks to Bullseye Glass for supplying the glass and supporting this meaningful project ✨ Want to share what you've been making? ✨ Thank you for following the development of From the Fragment To the Whole ✨ As part of raising match funding for the next stage of the project, I’ll be running a small fused glass workshop in Camberwell on Saturday 23rd May. We’ll be making glass sun catchers together in a relaxed creative studio environment, exploring colour, light and texture through fused glass. No previous experience is needed. This workshop is part of the ongoing development of From the Fragment To the Whole - a project creating free glass workshops for women affected by domestic abuse, and currently being developed towards a future collaboration with Lambeth Council and an exhibition at Kennington Library for International Women’s Day 2027 with curator @ros_black I’m especially excited because this is the first workshop I’ll be running in a larger creative space, after previously only being able to work with very small groups in my studio. Thank you to @danielreynoldsstudio for the space. Your support, encouragement and engagement with this project genuinely means a lot ✨ If you’d like to take part in the workshop or find out more, feel free to message me or find the link in bio with info and to book your place. @lambeth_council @friendsofdurninglibrary @robertadecaroart #fusedglass #fromthefragmenttothewhole #creativeworkshop #glassworkshop #sociallyengagedart

Last week’s end of show event and talk at @coventry_cathedral was a great success🎉 I am truly grateful to those who attended and those who participated. It was a truly heartwarming experience to discuss the project #fromthefragmettothewhole on the last day of the exhibition and to hear the thoughts and reflections of my collaborators and of some of the participants. I couldn’t have wished for a better event ✨Grateful to the Lord Mayoress of Coventry Cllr Rachel Lancaster for attending and for the inspiring conversation about the works on show created by and with women who survived domestic abuse. Thank you to @coventry_cathedral_events, @coventryhaven22 @jaisrichards for your collaboration over the last 9 months!! 🙏🏼Special thanks to @bullseyeglass for your sponsorship. This success belongs to all of us especially the participants who shared their stories with courage 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼the glassworks of your stories will continue to inspire others to free themselves from abuse and to highlight the importance of talking about this issue until change happens. The next exhibition will be in Kennington Library ( London) in collaboration with Lambeth Council on International Women’s Day 2027✨ #repair #glass #exhibition #domesticabuse @robertadecaroart

last week pics of From the Fragment To the Whole by @robertadecaroart and members of @coventryhaven22 - using fused glass to represent how people put themselves back together after DV, very moving work ❤️‍🩹 Each piece represents an individual story, this exhibit deeply resonated with me as someone who's accessed support from Coventry Haven before and as a glass artist myself

Today at the Cathedral was something really special. So good to work with you all again, women I’ve stood alongside, each with their own stories, but connected in strength, honesty and growth. Really pleased to welcome our Lord Mayoress Rachel Lancaster and talk about funding in our sector and how the project has supported survivors of abuse. A huge shout out to Roberta De Caro for bringing this project to life and creating a space where those stories could be expressed, held and seen. What stood in that space wasn’t just art, it was resilience, courage and transformation. Strong women. Powerful journeys. Proof that healing isn’t a straight line, but it is possible. And a reminder we all carry forward: what happened to us was never ours to hold as shame. Not our shame. www.coventryhaven.co.uk
