Before the portrait I would make rough doodle of the set and person and then construct the scene from the materials I had lying round the studio. I limited the amount of the sheets of film to 4 max. This is a response to the commercial commissions where when shooting digitally it was requested to shoot more and more. Funny that the more you shoot doesn’t seem to improve the result, just allows more options for more people to have their choice often resulting in composite imagery made from different parts of the body in order to get the perfect advertising image. This project was the complete opposite, trying to restrict the options and getting back to basics. Just a real person sat in a box with no deviation from the original doodle.
