Happy Down Syndrome Awareness Month, everyone! There is so much to celebrate and so much work to be done! While we have made great strides over the past fifty years, there are still so many misconceptions about Down syndrome. There are still so many biases based on old ideas. At RODS Heroes, we make it our mission to uncover and celebrate the superpowers of Down syndrome year round! We do that through sharing stories like the ones highlighted in this reel, the ones we share on our platforms on social media (@humansofdownsyndrome and on YouTube - check it out - link in Bio), and by advocating for orphans with Down syndrome around the globe. We also want to foster community for anyone in need of it. We are doing this year round, so you can bet we’ll be doing it in October, too! Happy, Happy Down Syndrome Awareness Month, Everyone! Stay tuned for a fun Giveaway later in the month, some awesome LIVES with self-advocates and family members and, of course, more inspiring stories!

@bestbuddies has truly been one of the most important parts of my journey. Their programs have given me community, support, and purpose in more ways than I could ever imagine. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the friendships I’ve made through them. And that’s why I’m always so thankful to give back at their events!

Attending @bestbuddiescanada’s Thrill of Ascot event over the weekend was the most perfect day. I co-hosted with my girl @sangita.patel and got to connect with so many old and new friends!

Dear mom, you just got the diagnosis. You feel afraid, isolated, your whole world is changing. But on the other side of grief, a community is waiting for you, with open arms💙💛. It’s been a long time since I’ve stepped into a space like this.
And I’m so, so thankful I said yes to this weekend.

I wish I got out of my head a little more
talked to more mamas, connected deeper.

But I also know
it was exactly what it was supposed to be ✨

The best part?
Those little moments
the laughter, the hugs, the feeling of “wow, this is really special.”
