🍇 This past Saturday evening we attended the annual Harvest Dinner at Domaine Drouhin Oregon in the Willamette Valley’s Dundee Hills. The winery was established in 1987 by the historic Drouhin family of Burgundy and we have been visiting them since the 1990’s and have been members since 2003. The dinner was hosted by fourth generation winemaker Véronique Drouhin. One of the first woman winemakers in Burgundy, Véronique has become globally-recognized for her work in Burgundy and Oregon. She has made more than 30 vintages in each growing region, and is considered an icon in both. Today, Véronique continues to make every wine for Domaine Drouhin Oregon. In Burgundy, her title is “Guardian of the Drouhin Palate,” which makes her responsible for maintaining the “Drouhin style and sensibility” in every wine the family produces.  We have met Véronique many times over the years, including a chance meeting outside the caves of Joseph Drouhin in Beaune, so we were pleased to be seated at her table.

With the dinner, the following wines were served:
- 2024 Roserock Maigold Chardonnay
- 2021 DDO Arthur Chardonnay
- 2021 DDO Pinot Noir Origine 34
- 2019 DDO Pinot Noir Laurène
- 2016 Pinot Noir Cuvée Louise
- To end the meal, a special Ratafia, a grape based fortified wine, created by Véronique. (Unfortunately, not available for sale.)

The following day we did a tasting of Maison Joseph Drouhin wines including:
- 2022 Saint-Romain Blanc
- 2023 Vaudon Chablis 1er Cru
- 2023 Montagny Blanc
- 2022 Santenay
- 2023 Savigny-les-Beaune
- 2023 Givry
Thank you to Ken Lukhard for guiding us through these wonderful wines.

À Votre Santé!

A Galette is a rustic, free-form French pastry that can be either sweet or savory. To be honest, I was a bit nervous as this was the first time I made a pastry dough, did a bit of research and and all came together beautifully. The tomatoes, chives and basil were from our garden, Brie was from France 🇫🇷 😉.
We paired the Galette with a wonderful Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire that we found at Costco. After it has cooled, sprinkled some torn basil and chives on top and then enjoyed it with a glass of this wine.

🍇🍷🇫🇷 Today’s wine is a 2025 Domaine du Courtillet Touraine Sauvignon Blanc produced by Guy Allion in Thésée in the Loire Valley.

Aromas - citrus fruits, grapefruit, and green apple, mixed with flinty, smoky mineral notes and white blossoms
Taste - lemon, peach, pear, and a touch of wet stone minerality; crisp; medium-bodied with bright acidity

A Votre Santé!
