Back in August, a group of our ladies traveled to East York, PA to compete at the most recent @joanofdarce tournament. We had a great showing, and every one of our competitors brought home at least one gold sash! 🙌

We are a month away from the next Joan of D'arce event, and we can't wait to bring another group of our ladies out to test themselves!

Joan of D'arce is an all-female competition that allows women and girls to compete in a low-cost, low-pressure, safe, supportive environment. There are already over 100 registrations, and we wouldn't be surprised to see that number top 200 before registration closes.

Make sure to catch the next event November 15th in Sykesville, MD!

These two ladies are monsters on the mats. With years of grappling experience and a seriously deep bag of tricks, they know how to catch opponents off guard, and they're ready to show you how to do the same. Whether you're looking to sharpen your game or add some new surprises to your arsenal, you'll walk away with techniques you can use right away.

I'm so grateful to do this with the people I love.

The fact that I can travel with my family and do what I love is so special to me. I got to watch my mom and lady compete this weekend which is so awesome. It was extra special to see @addison_sargent7 get back to competition after such a long time away, I'm so proud of you. You chose a hell of a competition to come back to but you did it and I'm so proud because of that.

And my mom, @rockysaurus, I'm so proud of her going out and testing herself in a tough black belt bracket and the open class after getting her black belt just over a month ago. She whooped some butt and had fun, and I'm so glad I get to do this alongside her.

Some of my other Shark Pit/Round Table teammates put that work in too, (@thebloomingjiujiteira, @mel_does_bjj, @bsoudersbjj, @j_mill1, @forchheimer72, Camacho, Ben Phillips) I hope next time around we can get even more people out to competitions like this to show how good we really are as a team.

Rochelle is back on Off the Mats Podcast, and a lot has changed since our last conversation, most importantly, she’s officially a BJJ BLACK BELT! 🖤🥋

We pick up where we left off and talk about her progression from purple to brown to black belt, how competition has shaped her jiu-jitsu, her continued dedication to coaching, helping grow women’s BJJ, and what it feels like knowing newer grapplers can now look at her as an example of where this journey can lead.

We also revisit one of the questions from our first conversation: How do you define success in jiu-jitsu? Has that answer changed now that she’s reached the rank so many grapplers spend years chasing?
