Did I use a song from a kid’s show for this reel? Yes, yes I did. Sue me. It fit the vibe I was going for.

Can’t believe I’m already done with my master’s degree. This year has truly been life changing for me. I went from having never left the US before to living in two countries, visiting eight, and collecting a million stories in between. I created some of my best stories as a journalist and have come across some pretty amazing people along the way.

I’m looking forward to seeing where this next year takes me <3

(And yes, I will accept being referred to as Master Craft now.)

@rod_g18 is working on a piece that follows the lives of children growing up in La Esperanza, one of the most vulnerable districts of Trujillo, Peru, where violence, poverty and inequality can limit opportunities from an early age.

At the centre is Hilo Rojo, an NGO supporting children and families through education and community programmes. The piece explores how its work helps children stay connected to education and build alternative paths for their future, despite the challenges around them.

Good thing I’m a journalist because I’ve got a lot of stories to tell about this semester.

I cannot believe my time in Ireland is over. This experience has truly been life changing, and there are not enough words in the world to express how grateful I am. I have learned so much from my professors, classmates, and just living abroad in general that have pushed me to grow as a person and journalist.

To the friends I’ve made: Thanks for giving me a reason to get out of my apartment whether it was pub quizzes, going out on the weekends, or working on stories and stressing about making deadline.

If my younger self could see me now, I think she would be shocked at all the things I’ve done and risks I’ve taken (the scariest by far being getting bangs), but I think she would also be comforted by the fact I’ve been able to smile and laugh (albeit a little too loudly) without fear through it all.

Thanks Ireland for everything. Hopefully I’ll be back on your green fields soon <3
