POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

The best part of an art gallery, for me, is watching people experience the work.
You walk in, you see the new pieces, and then you notice how everyone moves around them. Someone steps in close. Someone else steps back. Every person has their own connection to what is in front of them, and no two are the same.
That spectacle is something I really enjoy. To me, it is art in itself, separate from the work on the wall.
It is the same feeling I get in the stands at a great match. Everyone is watching the same point, and everyone is seeing something different. The court and the canvas.
With art season getting closer, I am sharing some of the conversations with artists that have stayed with me. This one with Rod (@rodartfactory) is one of them, and I do not take it for granted. I am looking forward to what this season brings.
When is the last time you visited a gallery? Are you the one who steps in close, or the one who stands back? Tell me in the comments.
Planning for Art Basel Miami Beach:
When are the public days? December 4 to 6, 2026, at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
What else is happening? Miami Art Week runs November 30 to December 6, with more than 20 art fairs plus museum and gallery shows across the city.
Why I am excited: the crowds. Watching thousands of people meet the work is half the experience.

Up close, the Fragmentation series by Rod (@rodartfactory) looks like a moment frozen in place.

There is a structure first. Then tubes reaching out from it. Then hundreds of tiny pieces scattered across the surface, layer on top of layer. Stand close and you see the fragments. Step back and the whole piece comes together.

Rod told me what he loves about fragmentation is that it never ends. The idea is wide open. It can be personal, intimate, political or purely aesthetic. It can be whatever the story needs to be. Some of the works even carry the names of old masters like Caravaggio and Dürer, a conversation with art history built out of pieces.

A tennis match works the same way. Up close it is hundreds of separate points. Step back and you see the story of the match. The court and the canvas.

Sitting with an artist while he explains his process is something I do not take for granted, especially with art season getting closer.

When is the last time you visited a gallery? And do you see the pieces first, or the whole? Tell me in the comments.

We asked some of our artists to give us an inside look at the spaces where their work comes to life.

Ted Rand-Bell creates from his studio in Bristol, while Sandra Saradesi’s practice is more fluid, making art wherever she finds herself in the world. For Jack Flournoy, the studio is also a place for music, where sound and visual practice exist side by side. Rod works from Italy, while Alberto Godoy creates from Houston.

Different cities, different rhythms, and completely different ways of working. Each space offers a glimpse into the passion, process, and purpose behind the art.

The work matters. The human even more.

We stand for the work — but above all, the person behind it.

Watch until the end…

The work before the magic is so sacred✨
Behind the scenes looks quiet—but it’s anything but.

What people don’t see are the pivots, the last-minute changes, the moments where something goes wrong and you pause, recalibrate, and move forward like everything is exactly as it should be. No panic. Just presence and trust.

Two hours before the event, as I was still an hour away in traffic, on the phone trying to intercept my clients artwork stuck in Orlando, my girl @sorayaroberts called me and asked, “Do you need help? I could pull up in an hour” — and she did. Truly. Lord knows how much that meant to me. I’m endlessly grateful for friends who show up, constantly and consistently. Like my bro @lifewitheddie who listened to hours of my business rants and accompanying me to the 1st walkthrough with @roveconcepts and my other bestie @ldbrown568 who flew into town for 40 hours just to support me and made sure my crown was intact. The friends who rolled up their sleeves without being asked, while holding a grounding, loving space so I can stay in my element and do what I do best. Thank you guys from the bottom of my heart, I’m truly grateful.

Great preparation takes a great team, and I’m so thankful for team @mmculture.group and the partners and collaborators who moved with excellence, grace, and heart to make everything flow seamlessly.

Here are a few behind-the-scenes moments from my ‘road to Rove’ before the magic unfolded.

Thank you to all who joined us. Your presence and beautiful energy were a true blessing.

I’m excited for all the purposeful experiences MMCG has planned in 2026, not just in Miami, but internationally as well. Stay tuned✨
