POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

ONE CYCLIST: $100,000.
TWO OTHERS: CLAIMS DENIED.

Your words. Your proof. Your coverage.

This week, our client recovered $100,000 after a bike crash. He had uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage, contacted us immediately, and let us guide the reporting and insurance process while he received medical follow-up.

Two other riders came to us after their claims were denied. They hadn’t called police, didn’t have UM coverage and had told insurers they were “okay”—even though they weren’t.

They were trying to be nice. But an early description of your injuries can become evidence used to dispute your claim.

Being able to get up isn’t the same as knowing you’re uninjured.

Get medical care first. Document what happened. Get legal advice early—before a detailed or recorded statement or signing a release. Your own policy may require prompt notice and cooperation; don’t miss those duties.

And check your UM/UIM coverage before your next ride. It can provide an important source of recovery, depending on your policy and state law.

These were different cases, not a formula. No UM, no police report or an early “I’m okay” does not automatically mean no case.

Already handled it yourself? Contact us anyway. Let’s review what options remain.

You handle your recovery. Let us handle the claim.

My brother and I caught the mountain-bike racing bug in 1992. Long before there was a law firm, there was the joy of riding. He’s the one sending it in the second slide.

There still is.

Some days, it’s the challenge. Pushing yourself. Finding out what’s left in the legs.

Other days, it’s the people. A laugh before the start. A friend beside you. Coming home happier than when you left.

Not every ride needs a result.

We talk a lot here about drivers, laws, and what happens after a crash. That work matters. But the risks shouldn’t become the whole story.

Joy is the point.

It’s also why representing injured cyclists means so much to me. We understand that a crash can interrupt more than a ride.

What does a bike give you? Freedom? Friendship? A little peace? Something else entirely?

Tell me in the comments. Or send us a short video for Why I Ride.

Share this with the person who makes your rides better.

The bikes came first.

That first photo is my brother and me in 1992. The bikes on the car. A mountain-bike racing bug that never really went away.

The other photos are from Unbound this year. Different bike, different terrain, a few more years on the clock. Same feeling when I get to ride.

If we haven’t met: I’m Matt Scarborough. I’m a trial lawyer, the founder of Scarborough Bicycle Accident Law, and someone who’s been riding and racing since the early ’90s.

I built a firm focused on cyclists because I know a bike isn’t just a piece of property or a line on an insurance claim. It’s freedom, friendships, training, adventure—sometimes the best part of your day. When a crash interrupts that, riders deserve a team that understands what they’ve lost and is ready to do the work.

This page is for the people who ride—and for anyone who wants safer roads and more people on bikes.

What—or who—first got you riding? Tell me in the comments. I’d love to hear your story.

— Matt

Learning how to understand and master ultra racing has been a long process. You need a strong and healthy body, but I’ve learned that the most important part of an ultra is your mindset.

For months, I kept telling myself that a big result was possible. I trained my mind to believe I belonged at the front. Then, in the days leading into the race, my mom and Matt both told me they had a feeling something big was going to happen. Hearing that gave me even more confidence that this could be my day.

The day before the race, two of my friends were involved in a serious bike accident. From that moment, I also want to dedicate this race to them ❤️

The race went well but definitely no perfectly!

And maybe that’s one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned about ultra racing: problema are part of the race. You have to stay calm, adapt, solve them, and keep moving forward!

My powermeter stopped working which might actually have been a blessing because the first couple of hrs were harder than I had planned. I dropped and lost my glasses, my chain got jammed. Halfway through the race the course got changed because of the weather and I didn’t had internet to download the new course.

Things kept happening!

But instead of letting those moments destroy my race, I kept solving one problem at a time and I tried to enjoy my race.

Having Miguel with me throughout the race made a HUGE difference. I truly believe I wouldn’t have achieved this result without him. We looked after each other, helped each other, and worked together for hundreds of miles. I wanted more than anything for both of us to stand on that podium.

Unfortunately, circumstances in the final miles that were outside our control made that impossible. The rider who finished second was able to gain an advantage while riding with a teammate competing in the 75-mile race, and in the end I missed second place by only TWO SECONDS.

More than the podium, I’m proud that all those months of work, sacrifice, belief, and learning how to suffer without losing focus finally came together.

A huge thanks you to my Family, Matt, Osmay, Roly, Dr Tom, John my friends and sponsors ❤️❤️❤️
