Novelist @romanolax is our October Writer-in-Residence and while she's here, she's teaching one writing workshop. She'll break down how one big question drives the whole book, while dozens of smaller ones keep the reader turning pages, using a bestselling memoir as an example. Relevant for writers of all genres, at any stage.

Andromeda Romano-Lax isn't just the author of multiple novels across genres, she's also a professional book coach. During her week-long writing residency on Salt Spring, she's offering a select few Blue Pencil sessions at the @saltspringlibrary for novelists and memoirists.

She'll review 5 pages (could be a chapter, synopsis, outline, query letter, or combination) in advance of your one-on-one session, offering her expert advice about where to take your project next.

1 YEAR BOOKSTAGRAM!!! 🥳 🎉 🧁

Happy birthday to my bookstagram account!!!

Last January I hadn’t touched a book in years and all of a sudden I joined I bookclub and started reading like no tomorrow! It’s the best thing to happen in my life (apart from my family!) but reading lets me explore my imagination, takes me to a different universe and thanks to books im currently writing my own book!

I have met so many amazing authors to name a few:

@markedwardsauthor , @clairedouglasauthor , @lisajewelluk @adele_parks @lauriegilmore_author and ssooooo many others!

And especially Eleanor Barker-White who turned up at my house, was in no rush and spoke to me about her life, my book and gave the advice I need! I will forever treasure that!

And too all the authors who have gifted books, bookplates, everything over the past year! I wouldn’t be where I am without you all!

It was thanks to Freida McFadden that got me into reading and she’ll always be a big part of my life along with the other authors who have given me advice and encouragement for my own novel!

Thank you to all the publishing companies who have sent me proofs and books, I’m forever grateful!!
And thank you to my followers who have supported me and became apart of my life, I love each and every one of you!

I spent 20 years in a high school. Everything this book pokes at: what we teach boys, what we miss, how well we actually know the kids right in front of us. This lands hard for me. I've got a long list of questions for Andromeda.
