ATHLETE SPOTLIGHT // RONALD ROMINE Ronald, if you’ve never met him, is a live wire. He’s 53 years young and by his intensity in the gym you would swear he’s in his 20’s. He’s found either at his home garage gym or killin’ it at CrossFit Tier One here in Ocala. Last year Ronald competed in Brick City Battle and I had no idea it was his very first competition until just last week when we spoke online. We had a pleasant conversation and he said something that stuck in my head and made me very happy. He said that prior to signing up for the competition he was nervous to participate because he had only started CrossFit within the year and thought that his skill set wasn’t up to par or he just plain wasn’t ready. He ended up getting FIRST PLACE with his partner and his confidence soared. What really stood out, though, was that because he did sign up and had a boost of confidence at Brick City Battle, he said that a door opened to compete more in the future. Since then, he’s competed and podiumed in a handful of higher profile events that he said wouldn’t have been a possibility if he hadn’t participated in our event. So if you feel like you “aren’t ready” or your “skillset isn’t up to par” I promise you that BCB standards will limit no one! So find a partner and take the leap to compete for a great cause with great people! Let’s make Brick City Battle a memorable experience, LETS GO!!! • #firefighter #firefightercompetition #parkinsons #parkinsonsresearch #michaeljfox #michaeljfoxfoundation #crossfit #strongman #sandbag #crossfitcompetition #strongmancompetition #charityevent #fitness #fitnesscompetition #fire #fitwomen #fitmen #ocala #centralflorida #fit

Today was a special day, at a special comp (@salutethefallen_ ), with special people. This weekend, a year ago Brad competed at Salute the Fallen with his brother Tim and our good friend Arian. They kicked ass that day and landed themselves a spot on that podium. Little did we know it was going to be his last comp. Four days later I rushed Brad to the ER not knowing that our outcome would be where we are today. Today Gage stepped up and competed with Arian and Ron to represent for his dad. Andrew (coordinator and owner of Salute the Fallen) programmed Brad’s HERO WOD “Big Brad” as one of the workouts. Big Brad was created by Brad while in ICU last year. It’s a doozy of a wod but it represents him well! His 4 favorite movements and all has the entire time!! It was heart warming to see all of the athletes throwing down to the wod that Brad created in honor of him!! I know Brad was looking over us, filled with joy and screaming at every single athlete telling us g them to push harder!! Thank you to everyone that was involved in today!! It was a blessing to spend the day with you all!!
