POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
I want to take a moment to highlight someone incredibly special, our November Challenge Winner, Ron.

And I want to tell you why he was chosen, because his story stopped me in my tracks.

Ron has been fighting stage 4 lymphoma.

He’s been through exhaustion, dizziness, losing muscle, watching his body change in ways he never expected. And he’s doing it while showing more resilience than most people ever have to tap into.

When I read his post, what stood out wasn’t only the physical challenges he’s facing,it was the strength of his mindset.

Even in the middle of treatment, in the middle of uncertainty, he’s choosing to move.
He’s choosing to walk a few miles a day.
He’s choosing to lift light weights.
He’s choosing to show up.

He said something that really moved me:
‘I may never get back to where I was, but I know I can get stronger every day so I can enjoy life without limitations.’

That’s powerful.

It’s about quality of life.
It’s about being here for the people you love.
It’s about doing everything you GET to do today.

I say that a lot.

We GET to workout today. We GET to move today.

Ron,
I’m proud of you.
Your courage, your consistency, your attitude… it inspires everyone in our community and it inspires Mel and me. Thank you for trusting me. Keep walking, keep lifting, keep fighting and we’ll be right here with you every step of the way.

If you are still reading, take a moment to appreciate what you GET to do today, not what you have to do.

It’s a little impossible to even know where to start thinking about the last week. I wanted this to be a fresh start; I wanted to use this trip to shake off all the stress of the past 18 months, of all the things in my past that have dragged me down.

What I didn’t expect is to really understand what it means to have a family, to be surrounded by laughter and fun and love. Last night when I got to NYC I was excited and happy in spite of an emotional day of goodbyes - compared to last year’s visit where I got to the hotel and cried because I was lonely and homesick.

Every one of these people makes me a better person; every one of these people lets me be myself for the first time in a long long time. They also taught me I may not actually be an introvert. They also pretty much were all baffled by the fact I thought I was.

Bring on the 2.0 of my life, I couldn’t be more stoked!

PS. Getting the photos down under the limit in this post was impossible.
