In the spring of 2023, @chasefromaustin and I started putting on monthly comedy shows around Austin. It was something we started purely for fun with our friends, with no real expectations of where it might go.

By our second show, we found ourselves standing outside the Comedy Store on Sunset Blvd when we got a call from @joshuawhelms and @petercurtispardini about the idea of making a documentary following the rise of Austin’s comedy scene.

What started as a fun side project turned into the next several years of filming, countless comedy shows, very late nights, and a whole lot of experiences we never could’ve anticipated when we started.

A little over three years later, that film is finally here.

@nighthawksfilm is officially available on Apple TV today.

Incredibly grateful for everyone who played a part in bringing this film to life.

Ron White's current tour reaches Welch, Minnesota tonight, with an 8 p.m. performance at Treasure Island Resort & Casino's Island Event Center. The October 17 show is indoors and open to guests aged 18 and older, giving fans a concrete Saturday-night stop on the veteran storyteller's live schedule.

White built his reputation around a conversational delivery that lets a story take its time. The appeal is in the pauses, the shifts in emphasis and the sense that an ordinary account is about to head somewhere less ordinary. Longtime fans will know him from the Blue Collar Comedy Tour; this date puts the focus back on a live audience and a full evening of stand-up.

The venue is at 5734 Sturgeon Lake Road in Welch, and its indoor event center has 2,800 seats. That offers a different scale from a small comedy club while keeping the night centered on one performer and a microphone. The confirmed start is 8 p.m. local time, so anyone travelling should plan around Minnesota time rather than treating the date as an online stream.

This is a specific stop on White's ongoing schedule, not an announcement of a new special or a promise about which stories he will tell. Set lists can change, and the best part of seeing a seasoned comic live is hearing the delivery happen in the room.

If you are heading to Treasure Island tonight, who is taking the seat beside you? Bring the friend who appreciates a story that refuses to hurry.

From the Blue Collar Comedy Tour to becoming a two-time Grammy-nominated headliner, White has always occupied his own lane: less setup-punchline machine, more guy-at-the-bar telling a story that keeps getting better the longer it goes.
