🐝✨ Did you know that honeybees pollinate 1/3 of our food crops, ensuring biodiversity and food security? Without them, many plants wouldn’t bear fruit like apples, cherries and strawberries 🍎🍓 I got invited by @rooftop_alchemy from @alveolebuzz to visit one of their hives. Together we carefully collected some frames out of the boxes. It’s a very gentle process by brushing off the bees from the frames to keep the hive healthy and happy. The beekeepers really care about the bees and they treat them so well. It’s amazing to see how passionate these people are about bees and I highly recommend people to visit a hive with a beekeeper at least once in their life 🐝🍯💛 So a lot of people asked me: do they sting? In fact they can! But one major thing I learned is that if you keep calm the bees will pick up that energy and won’t be bothered. They will only sting when they feel threatened. 🍯 ✨🐝 Thank you @rooftop_alchemy and @alveolebuzz for this great experience!✨

For almost 3 years since we started BeeSage there were no women in our hive 😥 At first it was just Ru and Girts. Then a couple of guys joined. Still, we were just a bunch of drones! Ok, to be fair, it works differently in the human world, and we, men, actually do some work, not only chase queens 😂 Some of us even 7 days per week. Still, it was a concern because we’ve always aimed to have a balanced team in this regard. But it’s not that simple in practice when it comes to hiring, and many startups struggle with this. Most importantly, a significant percentage of beekeepers are women! Hence why we were stoked when one such beekeeper joined our team in January 🤗 Armel is our Customer Success Manager, based in the Netherlands, and now it’s hard to imagine our hive without her. Soon after we welcomed Linda and Mercy for software-focused roles, based in Nigeria, and Clara, our Communications Designer, French/Danish and based in Spain 🙌 Thank you for contributing to our mission of enabling bees to share knowledge with humans 🐝 And let’s celebrate all women, and especially women beekeepers on this day 💛 #womensday #internationalwomensday #internationalwomensday2023 #beekeeping #beekeepers #beekeepersofinstagram #beekeepersgram #startuplife #diversity #appreciationpost #womenforbees

Have you ever wondered why you feel so good when you’re out in nature? There's a very good reason for it....and it's grounded in science.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The human body has a magnetic field made up of positive and negative ions. Over exposure to positive ions – emitted by electrical equipment like computers and mobile phones etc. impact our magnetic field, drain our energy, disturb our sleep and make us feel tired, lethargic and even depressed.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Nature on the other hand produces an abundance of negative ions which are invisible molecules that occur naturally in abundance in certain environments, like forests and woods, beaches, rivers and mountains. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And when in close proximity - we breathe them in. Once they hit our bloodstream that are said to produce biochemical reactions that can offer a host of benefits.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Research published in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences on negative air ions and their effects on human health (2018) shows they regulate sleep patterns and mood, reduce stress, boost immune system function, increase metabolism of carbs and fats and kill or inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria, viruses, and mold species.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Places like mountains and water in motion (think waterfalls and waves) in particular contain tens of thousands of negative ions..⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Just think how good you feel after swimming in the sea. This in contrast with the average home which is said to contain a mere few hundred negative ions at best.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ While many of us city dwellers don't have the luxury to frequent some of natures best - making the most of what we do have on our doorstep in the way of parkland and woods etc. is a brilliant way to not only offset the negative impacts of positive ions, but in the process help to balance, rejuvenate, energise and uplift.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So go for a walk. Make it a daily habit. Don't procrastinate (she says). Just do it. Your body will thank you for it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ xx ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #negativeion #detoxforhealth #natureisbest #natureismedicine #freshairtherapy #holistichealing
