Since when did the goal of parenting become to make your babies need you LESS

Instead of being there for them - wholly, consistently, day AND night - so they’ll feel so safe and secure that they have the confidence to venture out on their own, in their own time?

Motherhood becomes more peaceful when you stop trying to “fix” sleep, and start supporting it instead 🤍

Aleni (@rootedinsleep) and I are proud to be offering a virtual consultation package to provide one on one support to families who want to learn more about biologically normal infant and toddler sleep, ways to support their child’s sleep using strategies that are deeply rooted in attachment theory, as well as how to utilize babywearing as a tool for sleep

The baby care industry loves the narrative that normal infant & toddler behaviors are “problems” that need to be fixed.

When moms feel like something is wrong with their child, they will do whatever they can (including spending lots of money) to fix a problem that never existed in the first place.

The sleep training industry alone is estimated to be worth billions of dollars, fueled by the idea that normal infant sleep patterns need to be corrected rather than understood and supported.

What if instead of focusing on fixing problems that didn’t exist in the first place, we focused on connection instead?

It’s time to stop trying to change our children, and start trusting that their needs, behaviors, and bids for connection are part of normal development

One of our collective goals as professionals in the perinatal space is to continue encouraging involvement from dads, partners, and other caregivers in the process of learning

Pints & Pops was a fun step towards that goal - we loved getting the dads involved!

🎙️S3E23 The Truth About Timed Check-Ins (And Why Babies Cry More)

So many parents go into “gentle” sleep training thinking it will feel better…and instead they see....more crying & a baby who seems more upset when they come in

And then they’re told to stay consistent, stretch the intervals or stop going in altogether

Which is how so many families end up at cry it out even when they never wanted to go there.

But here’s the truth:
Your baby crying harder when you come in doesn’t mean your presence is the problem. They are simply reacting to the separation they are feeling (which they are not wired for). They are meant to seek comfort and support from their attachment figures.

In this episode, we’re talking about what’s actually happening in your baby’s nervous system, why check-ins can feel so dysregulating, and what support can look like without ignoring your instincts.

🎙️S3E23 The Truth About Timed Check-Ins (And Why Babies Cry More)

“Not all sleep training is cry it out.”
But here’s the part that doesn’t get talked about enough…a lot of families end up there anyway.

Because methods like timed check-ins or the chair method often lead to more crying—especially for sensitive, highly aware babies.

If you’ve ever noticed your baby:
• Cries harder when you go in
• Gets more upset after you leave
• Or seems more dysregulated with check-ins

So parents are often told or feel like it’s better to just stop going in and that’s how “gentle” sleep training often turns into cry it out.

This episode breaks down why this happens, what it means, and what your baby actually needs in those moments.

We’re still sitting with this one 🤍

What started as a series became something so much more.

Over 5 weeks…
8 sessions…
11 deeply caring providers…
and 20+ women showing up exactly as they are…

we witnessed what happens when care is shared, conversations are open, and mothers are supported in real time, in real life.

There was movement.
There was learning.
There was laughter, and there were tears.
There was space to be wherever you are, wherever you’ve been, and wherever you’re going.

And honestly… we’re a little emotional about it.

Because this is what it’s meant to feel like.
Connected. Informed. Held.

This is just the beginning.

Join us, you belong here.
