Good news! We’ve decided our children’s theatre show ‘De Boekenboom’ is also available for kids from the age of 4! (Instead of 6+) The smaller kids also seemed to really enjoy it during our try-out. 💚 You can book it through @schrijverscentrale or email me at annerooskleiss@gmail.com 😊

EDIT: We are now offering this play for kids from the age of 4 already!

I’m sooo excited to share with you that a big dream of mine is coming true, I’m making a children’s theatre play + workshop together with the wonderful @marjolijnmaakt called De Boekenboom (The Book Tree)! 🌿 You can visit our try-out on the 29th of March at Hillevliet during @rotterdamartweek or book us now for your school, library, event or festival all over the Netherlands via @schrijverscentrale ! It’s so nice to be able to combine my love for illustration, theatre, character design and storytelling all in one project that comes straight from our hearts 💚

2 weeks ago, during the Dutch Children’s Book Week, I was invited by the @sprookjesfestival and bookshop @meijerensiegers to give a workshop in the most beautiful greenhouse in Oosterbeek. 🌻 My workshop was called ‘Designing your own fairy tale house’, based on my most recent book ‘Er kan er altijd eentje bij’ where the main characters also end up building their own dream house! I always love to see what the kids come up with, and would definitely live in all of these fantastical mansions! 🫶 Pictures 1, 2 and 3 by Berry de Reus

I will be live drawing portraits of your favourite home activity at the Central Library in Rotterdam on the 8th of October as a part of the Dutch Children’s Book Week. Swipe for a fun pic of me at the red carpet of the Dutch Children’s Book Gala!

Shake what your mama gave you! Cover of a new book in the BAM series for @voltkinderboeken , small non fiction books with lots of different themes.💥 I got to illustrate another one written by the amazing @tinyfisscherschrijft , this time it’s all about dancing! (The first one was about horses, remember?😊) I made all the drawings with ecoline, which is quite a new material to me but I thought all the flowiness and funky patterns would work well with this loose and flowy theme. I was just kind of figuring everything out along the way which kept the whole process really fun and playful✨ Swipe for some first sketches. It will be out later this year! So cool to see that my illustration for @boit.contest was longlisted!! 💜 You had to use a beehive shape to make your image. I made two different versions! As I was working on the collage piece I felt like the composition had some Escher-y vibes, so I also made one in colored pencil. In the end I submitted the collage one, but I like both. Which is your favourite? ✏️ or ✂️ ?

This was such a joy to work on 🏄‍♀️ I got to make all the illustrations for the summer issue of the magazine of the Rotterdampas @rotterdampas , a card that gives you lots of discounts for a lot of different cultural venues and other places in Rotterdam. This is my favourite illustration that I made!🌞 I’ll show you the other illustrations over the next weeks. 🍉 Thanks @endore_creative_agency for this nice opportunity and the art direction!
