Plot twist: y’all nominated the founders too. 🥹❤️

Not only was Millennium Latino Project nominated and recognized as Latino Change Agents for The City of Lynn, but @stephanie.herrerarios and Edwin @rosales.etc were also nominated individually by members of our community.

Our individual recognition didn’t make it into the program, so consider this a reminder of who we are and what we bring to the community.

The certificate isn’t the prize. Finding out that the people you serve see you, is the prize. Someone in our community actually sat down and wrote about why they believe in the work we’re doing. We haven’t even gotten to hear or read what you said yet! 😭

Until then:

Hi. We’re Stephanie & Edwin.
First-generation Latinos.
Founders of MLP.
Professional table-shakers when necessary. 😅

We’re fortunate to sometimes have access to tables and spaces that not everyone in our community is invited into.

That’s why we listen.

We want to hear your experiences, your ideas, what’s working and what’s missing so when we enter those spaces, we’re bringing perspectives beyond our own into the conversation.

Having a seat means something when you remember the people who weren’t given one.

So if you see us around Lynn, talk to us.

And to whoever nominated MLP, Stephanie and Edwin: We see you seeing us.

Thank you.

100+ PEOPLE SHOWED UP. WHAT HAPPENED NEXT WAS BIGGER THAN A WALK 🌊🧠💛

A few weeks ago, 100+ people showed up for our first Mental Health Walk & Talk and what happened was bigger than a walk🗣️ @massdcr

People laughed. People cried. Strangers became friends. Stories were shared. Resources were found. People showed up for each other🤜🤛

That’s what we wanted from the beginning: a space to move, breathe, talk, listen and just BE TOGETHER

Thank you to every resource provider, participant, volunteer and person who helped bring this vision to life without any grants or funding!

🗣️Shout out to our amazing speakers: @dr.ortizmcgrath @kay2leigh & Antonio Gutierrez and thank you to community officials @councilwomanmcclain @natasha_megie_maddrey_esq @cocoalinsug & Lenny Pena 🗣️

Special love to our community sponsors:
🐺 @regulate_yours
🌬️ @breathworkwithbree
🎥 @themiguelrubiera

We did it once and we plan to bring it back every year!

This Suicide Prevention Month, if you do one thing: have the conversation. Check on someone. Listen a little longer. Say what you’ve been holding in!!!💭

Because none of us are meant to carry everything alone🫶

🏈 IT’S GAME WEEK 🔥🏈

Ayden’s first ever fall tackle football game is this SUNDAY. So before we kick the season off, let’s take it back to where it all started… 🦍💜🖤

His FIRST EVER season of tackle football this past spring with the Lynn @silverbacks_springfootball was one for the books. They went UNDEFEATED regular season, TWO playoff wins and @neytfootball CHAMPIONS! 🏆

Forever grateful to Coach Duke, Vic, Spy, Paul & the entire SB staff for their patience, belief, and coaching. He came in not knowing positions, stances, or even how the game worked… and these coaches took him under their wings and TAUGHT HIM (did I mention patience lol 😅).

And he is just getting started and there is so much more to learn. Excited for the season ahead! 🙏🏾✨

LYNN SHOWED UP🧠🌊🗣️

The community didn’t show up for an event, they showed up for themselves.

It was an incredibly powerful morning to see healing happen in real time and through REAL talks🫶

HELLO SEPTEMBER 💜✨

September is a little different around here…
Mal’IDEA is turning ONE!

And if you're one of the OGs, you already know that before Mal’IDEA, there was SuciaSips
Same girl. Different name. A whole lot of ideas, lessons, events, late nights, setup & breakdowns, “what am I doing?” moments 🥴… and somehow we made it here.

So instead of celebrating for just one day, we're making September the celebration
And we’re BUSY

📅 September 5 — Far From the Tree
📅 September 12 — Haven Project 5K
📅 September 19 — La Cultura Fest + Festival Viva México
📅 September 26 — one more celebrating loading..
And more to come

This month isn't just about celebrating Mal’IDEA turning one.
It's about celebrating every person who has supported the IDEA
The people who came to an event.
The people who bought a drink.
The people who shared a post.
The people who referred me.
The people who helped behind the scenes.
The people who believed in me before they even knew where this was going.
YOU are part of this

So… hello September
Let's celebrate ONE YEAR OF MAL’IDEA
It’s not a bad IDEA after all 😉
