@rosettaroastery in Claremont sits at number 3 on our list of specialty coffee shops in Cape Town, and the reason lives in a freezer behind the bar.

They keep a small reserve menu of rare lots from some of the world’s top specialty producers, kept frozen so they stay fresh and brewed only as pour-over. When a lot sells out, it’s gone. When we visited, there were three on it:

- El Triangulo, Colombia: silky, layered tropical fruit, with a finish that hangs around. R110
- Primavera Anaerobic Natural, Colombia: hibiscus, rose water and chocolate ganache. R90
- Bombe Anaerobic Natural, Ethiopia: raspberry and baked peaches. R110

Yes, R110 for a filter coffee. We’d do it again.

Ask for the freezer menu at the bar. The lots change as they sell out, so yours might look different to ours.

If you’re hunting for coffee shops in Claremont or anywhere in the Southern Suburbs, Rosetta and the rest of our top 22 are on the map, in order. Link in bio +

Send this to the friend who still thinks filter coffee is the boring option.

THE CAPE, SOUTH AFRICA | Your Spring/Summer plans called: They need a little more Cape adventure in them! ☀️🍸🌊

I have lists for days, and this one is all about great spots worth booking + experiences worth making the time for.

From plush sleeps (I've tried & tested myself) and leisurely brunches to rooftop rendezvous, wine-farm lunches, and a little sailing on the Atlantic - consider this your nudge to see a little more of the Western Cape this season.

✔️ APPROVED WITH KLAAS!

Whether you're planning a weekend escape, entertaining visitors, OR (like me) simply looking for an excuse to play tourist in your own backyard, there's something here for your list.

🔖 Save this for your Spring/Summer plans and send it to the person you're taking with!

Where should I be heading next? 👀

7:30am on a Saturday. The neighbour's kids have decided your garage door is a goalpost. You need coffee, and it needs to be good.

Five specialty cafés in the City Bowl, so close together you could throw a blanket over all of them. From a world top-40 café to a roast we'd happily wear as perfume.

The rest of the City Bowl is on the map. Link in bio +

I just had what was easily one of the best coffee experiences I've had in #capetown at @choir.coffee

This is a true independent specialty café

Ditch the cow juice and order the tasting flight!

Thank you @arlyn_culwick and congratulations on your space!
