I’ve always been captivated by Corvids, particularly Crows and Ravens. I’m fascinated not only by their aesthetic and gothic appeal, but also that they are deeply rooted in the mystical and mythological.

Appearing in many cultures as potent symbols of intelligence and transformation, acting as messengers, tricksters, creators or Omens of change. This is just to name a few.

I was extremely grateful to have my work included in the ‘Fall With The Crows’ exhibition, curated by @thetrevaskis . It was my first time exhibiting artwork so to be included amongst such talented artists was humbling. One of which was my partner @rosie_flatt ! Hopefully this will be first of many we share together!

It was great fun to celebrate crows 🐦‍⬛ last night at the Fall with the Crows exhibition PV at @polyfalmouth curated by @thetrevaskis.

With 21 artists featured, this is a sizeable and beautiful celebration of the crow. As a nature and folklore lover I really enjoyed this exhibition and showcase of the cleverness, beauty and darkness of crows. It also further fuelled my desire to have a crow companion like Maleficent.

It’s well worth a visit so head down to Falmouth from today until 10th October to catch it 🐦‍⬛

I recently painted my first mural design for @priorshopbristol on Church Road. It was a total DREAM project and I’d love to do more work like this! I’ve assisted @hollyastle on a couple of murals in the past (shoutout out @vertigocollective_ ) and I’d love to do more of this too. So, if you’ve got a space that you’re thinking of transforming, or a project coming up you’d like an extra pair of hands for- I’d love to hear from you! 🩷

Come and join us for a big community banner making session from 4pm before our screening at 5, this Sunday at the princess pavilion!
If you’ve got young kids and can’t make it to the film be part of the evening with this family friendly creative painting session. It also makes a great to find a buddy if your attending the night on your own and want to connect with someone before the night behinds!
The session will be lead by a combo team of fantastic local artists @hollyastle and @rosie_flatt !
What’s the reason behind this giant community banner? Painting is just a really nice thing to do for one, but also we’re looking at creating tangible forms of art showing the impact of our events, we’re hoping to use this one in a community protest against the actions of our shamefully local dirty water company @southwestwater (hiiiii ☺️👋)

the PROCESS

this has been one of my favourite commissions for 2023, a STUNNING sunset-at-the-beach inspired jumper as a festive gift!! it was so special to design this piece with a gorgeous client and here’s how we did it…!

First, the BRIEF - this is always the starting point for my commissions.. this lovely client was an illustrator, so they sent over some water colour drafts of what they’d like their finished piece to look like! (this is by no means compulsory!! the brief can come in any form from photos, colours, descriptions or something more abstract like songs! it’s totally up to you!)

next was the COLOUR CONSULTATION - i invited this lovely local to visit my studio for us to pick out the perfect colour palette together! if you’re further afield, i’ll send you photos and videos of the yarn that i have in stock that i think would work well for your project!

the SELECTION of the colours is finalised and i get to work on the piece!

as this was a jumper, i started with the main body and back panel then moved on to the front panel, followed by the sleeves! i sent my client photos and videos as i went along, checking they were happy with how the piece was turning out and finished it off by BLOCKING - the finishing process that shapes the piece ready for wearing!!

i’m so pleased to say that it’s they absolutely loved it and i was sent off with a thank you and a care note to let the wearer know how to best look after their knitwear!
