MACCARRUNI E RICOTTA D'A NONNA - ZITI, @floridiacheese RICOTTA, TOMATO, PORK SAUSAGE - link to full recipe in my bio!

There's a reason that my Nonna used to love going to Floridia Cheese so much - besides the fact they're paesani and their towns Sortino and Floridia are only 25 mins from each other....it's their transcendent ricotta - it was a dream come true for me seeing how it's done - very grateful.

Now, they also have an incredible selection of other cheeses (I think I may have expressed my fondness for their stracciatella at least once before 😉) but it's the ricotta that is close to home for me because I used to remember going with my Nonni on a Sunday morning and seeing all the cumpari there with their own pot that they would bring from home, and fill with the same hot ricotta and spread it on fresh bread as a delightful treat.

Also, Nonna would refer to any short pasta as "MACCARRUNI" I think this is gold.

Suffice to say, being a 4th generation customer is something I am extremely proud of (yep...my Bisnonna would go too)!

Thanks also Mum, I couldn't have replicated this dish on my own even if I tried.

TAGLIATELLE, TOMATO, TUNA, PEAS - MY FAVOURITE PASTA WHEN I WAS PICIRIDDU - link to full recipe in bio!

What can I say, this one is very close to my heart.

Mum would make it all the time for me and would also force me to eat about 500g at a time of it. God bless Southern Italian mothers.

Peas - make sure they're frozen - it's the only way.

Tuna - don't cook or warm it, just straight in and mixed through at the end.

Tomato - you can use tinned tomatoes but she would do it with passata and hence so did I.

Have I bitten off more than I can chew with this one? Will it be as good as hers? Not a chance - but try it out for yourselves and see how you go!

This is how you can make Amalfi’s Mafaldene Puttanesca’s vegetarian version at home using amazing products from our deli.
