Forty years ago I saw Les Misérables with my mum, up in the rafters of the Palace Theatre. Even as a twelve-year-old my knees were pressed against the person in front of me. Good old London theatre! It didn’t matter at all, because I was completely swept up in this epic thing unfolding in front of me — unlike anything I had ever seen. The sweep, the scale, the deeply felt melody, the emotion, the connection. Patti LuPone was a young rising star then, and Frances Ruffelle, who I’d seen in Starlight Express a year or two before, is still to this day the most singular Éponine — that strange raspy voice so full of heartbreak that my pure little twelve-year-old heart genuinely wondered if that’s what it might actually feel like. Most indelibly though, it’s a treasured memory of my mum. We had dinner at TGI Friday’s afterwards which, trust me, for my little English tummy was a big deal back then, one of very few real American restaurants in London.Last night Ross and I had a date night at Radio City to see the 40th anniversary concert, and I cried so much. The performances were wonderful and I was surprised at how something so big, so overblown, could at the same time be so moving and intimate and truly connective. As we were leaving, I made a point of looking into the eyes of the people still looking back at the stage, full of love for these characters, this story, these performers, fellow humans. Yes, there was the technology, the lights, the spectacle, the screens, the sound design — but oh, the talent. A big takeaway was a reminder of how the power of theater is a reminder of how are dependent upon each other, that collective experience is irreplaceable. Mum you would have loved it! We certainly did. Thank you @lesmizus and @cammackltd

🎙️ I am honored to share my podcast with the amazing @rossrayburnyoga !

🙌🏼 We have a heartfelt conversation on how he first found yoga, and how his philosophy on yoga, meditation and the meaning of self has evolved.

💥 Many know Ross from his years at Peloton, where he offered expertly taught and beautifully themed classes. He talks to me about what it was like teaching for Peloton, and why he stepped away from what many teachers would consider a “dream job.”

💥 Since moving on from Peloton, he’s moved back into the role of independent teacher. After nearly 30 years of teaching, Ross is reframing what the practice is and where he finds meaning.

💯 Ross is also just one hell of a nice guy! He’s a strong, male figure who is authentic and intelligent with his teaching. He’s someone I admire and consider a leader in the yoga, health and wellness space.

👇🏼 Comment “pod” below and I will send you the link to my podcast with Ross!
