We have reached the end of our walk-through of CREATES' plastic-modified pavement research.

CREATES team successfully constructed real-world asphalt pavement test sections incorporating recycled plastics into the asphalt mixtures. This construction was completed at the South Jersey Technology Park.

So where does this research lead us? Well, this real-world implementation marks an important step in translating laboratory research into field applications. This is helping advance the use of recycled plastics as a sustainable material for durable asphalt pavements.

We sincerely thank the ERDC team, including Dr. Wade Lein, Ph.D., P.E.; Dr. Mohamed Elshaer, Ph.D., P.E.; and Dr. Ben Cox, Ph.D., P.E., for their continued technical guidance and support throughout the project.

A special thanks to the entire CREATES team-staff, graduate students, and undergraduate students-whose hard work and dedication contributed to the successful construction and instrumentation of these test sections.

What happens when transportation planning meets virtual reality? 🚗🥽

VTC and NJDOT staff recently visited Rowan University’s Machine & Artificial Intelligence Virtual Reality Center for a hands-on look at cutting-edge Machine Learning, AI, Augmented Reality, and Virtual Reality technologies. Exploring these immersive tools sparked conversations about innovation, transportation safety, and planning for the future.

A big thank you to our hosts at @rowanuniversity for the engaging demonstration and warm welcome!

Thank you to New Jersey Department of Transportation Commissioner Priya Jain for visiting Rowan University's Center for Research and Education in Advanced Transportation Engineering Systems @rowan_creates and touring its advanced pavement testing facilities, where researchers are advancing pavement technologies and transportation infrastructure.

Led by founding director Yusuf Mehta, PhD., CREATES operates the Northeast's only academic facility capable of simulating decades of heavy traffic in just a few months- supporting innovative research for federal, state, and local transportation agencies.
