A big thank you to the 135 folks who have pledged so far to help me make my next album! We’re only $70 away from reaching $8500, when I’ll share a childhood photo of my sister @kai__conley & me in some excellent 90’s fashions 😁 This record will feature folky gay love songs, sad country ballads about burning out under capitalism, and bluegrass-inspired tunes affirming the sacredness of all trans folks 🥰 This will be my 4th full length record, and my first with my Sacramento-based band The Eli Conley Quartet! It features @mandotom on mandolin, @benjamin.kopf on upright bass, @natalie.hagwood on cello, the album’s producer @rowanmcguire on drums, as well as some special guests like @pamelamachala, who co-wrote one of the songs with me. We just started recording it at @jumpdogstudios in Davis, CA. The songs I write, the shows I organize, the classes and lessons I teach, the Jewish rituals I offer, the protests I emcee, the group songs I lead — are all in service of the same goal: to make people feel affirmed, connected with their aliveness, and part of a bigger whole. Please make a pledge to chip in today — you know where to find that 🔗! (And if you don’t, DM me 😊) This campaign is all or nothing, so I’ll only get the funds (and you’ll only be charged) if I reach the $15k goal by October 30th. Sharing my campaign is also so appreciated!

With your help, The Eli Conley Quartet is going to record an album! This record will feature my folky gay love songs, sad country ballads about burning out under capitalism, and bluegrass-inspired tunes affirming the sacredness of all trans folks 🥰 We’re living in a time when authoritarian leaders want to make us feel small, scared, and isolated so we don’t recognize how much power we actually have. Billionaires are seizing control of bigger and bigger slices of our collective pie, while politicians on the right blame trans folks, immigrants, and unions for why everyday people’s lives are getting harder. In this climate, creating human art that tells the truth about our world and invites people into making common cause with each other is a radical act that feeds hope. This album will feature 12 original songs. Here’s a little taste: “Divine” Go tell everybody you love trans people We are perfect and divine I wrote this song reflecting on the 22 years since I first came out as transgender. I love seeing how much more commonplace it’s become for people to come out as trans and/or nonbinary since then. At the same time, with this increased visibility has come increased backlash. We are now under blatant political attack in a way I would never have anticipated two decades ago. Inspired by this song, one of the rewards you can get for contributing to my crowdfunding campaign is a t-shirt reading “Trans People Are Divine.” One extra special thing about this album is that I’ll be recording it with my new band, The Eli Conley Quartet! - Natalie Hagwood @natalie.hagwood on cello & backing vocals (Dear Darling, Solabel) - Tom Shewmake @mandotom on mandolin & backing vocals (One Button Suit, SloCoast) - Benjamin Kopf @benjamin.kopf on upright bass (Solabel, SloCoast) I am honestly in love with the music we’re making! It feels like a dream to be playing with these incredible acoustic musicians. We’re recording at @jumpdogstudios in Davis, California with producer/engineer/multi-instrumentalist Rowan McGuire @rowanmcguire. I’ve got 23 days to raise $15K and make this project a reality. You know where to go to find the link to chip in ☺️

Had such a beautiful day recording with Jeff Kepple — Natalie Hagwood’s dad and an unstoppable songwriter, now working on what will be his seventh album. Jeff’s music is gorgeous, with these unique and surprising harmonic movements that catch you off guard and hit the soul hard. Such a joy getting to play inside these songs. And the vocals were incredible — Natalie, her sister Kelsey, and Jeff himself on vocals and guitar. There’s something really special about hearing a family make music together. We recorded at Jump Dog Studios, a beautiful and cozy home studio with engineer Rowan McGuire — and, of course, sweet Beans keeping us company. 🐶 Grateful to be a small part of this record. Can’t wait for people to hear it. In the meantime, go check out Jeff’s music under @thekeppleband

As the season winds to a close, I am feeling grateful for all the musical opportunities I’ve had this summer. A younger version of myself would be stoked to hear that I’ve been able to support myself this summer by singing my little songs. I may not be writing and recording, but I find so much joy in playing music for my community. Thank you to everyone that helped me keep my schedule full, dropped me a tip, or came to see me play. Gigs will be slowing down for me as I begin student teaching in a 7th grade class starting this week (eep)! I feel like Hannah Montana getting the best of both worlds— pursuing teaching and playing music for my community bringing me so much purpose and joy… “Livin’ two lives is a little weird, yeah But school’s cool ‘cause nobody knows”… 😉🤘

Logo menos vem essas caras do novo disco. I’m going to release another album. I already have an album, an EP, and 4 singles released on the platforms. 20 songs, and with the ones coming now, it will be 27. All my music has been created in collaboration, with the participation of musicians, poets, singers, mixers, and producers. I have posted all my releases showing who is part of the project. Soon i will share that of the new album. But for now I am posting past releases with great honor, those who have layed down their sound with me and my music in the past. I couldn’t include everyone im the 20 slides... but at least here’s a beautiful sample of most people involved. Thank you to each of you who built this journey with me. And each of these people also has their own individual projects; there’s so much power in this network. BLESSINGS!

Olive was produced by @rowanmcguire in the cozy confines of @jumpdogstudios in Davis, CA. Couldn’t have asked for a better person to work with and hang with on this project. He helped bring the record to life in a way that felt very true and supportive of the songs and the musicians that played on them. And he shmacked the hell of the drums.

The players on Olive! Bunch of awesome dudes from Davis. I feel so lucky to have these guys on the record. They all brought so much and listening back to the songs now I couldn’t imagine them without the wonderful playing these guys did. @maxwelloakshere vocals, guitar, piano @rowanmcguire drums, guitar, bass, other odds/ends Obin Sturm fiddle, pedal steel @bill.dakin.54 upright bass @seanfeder dobro @neilmkoehler guitar 📸 @cbphoto.web
